An excellent, all-purpose appliance!

Previously, many years ago, I had an espresso maker. More recently, I have been using a traditional coffee maker. But, THIS coffee maker blends the best features of both of those, and then adds more! I love this little coffee station so much!
It's definitely better to call this a coffee station, rather than a coffee maker. It does so much!!! It makes regular coffee, iced coffee, strong coffee like espresso, and you can choose between single cups of varying sizes OR full carafes! I've utterly redone my whole barista station just so I could put this lovely machine in it.
First, the most important things. This is easy to clean, and easy to use. When it came to cleaning up, I had no problems with running each of the individual pieces through the top rack of my dishwasher. There are only a few pieces to clean: the brew basket for the carafe, the brew basket and pod adapter for the single-cup brewing area, the carafe itself, and the drip trays. The booklet said that some of the parts only needed rinsing, so what I'll probably do is rinse it after each use and then wash it once a day. From the look of things, it is easy to purchase additional brewing baskets if you'd rather use fresh ones throughout the day. This is a 1125 watt machine.
Initial setup is easy. I ran some tap water through the machine and then ran it through each of the settings to rinse out the machine, then switched it to filtered water. There is no built-in filter, so I'm just using a regular filtered water pitcher with it. You can optionally have the water reservoir mounted on the left side (as seen when facing it) or the back. There are some super-easy instructions in the booklet for how to change this around. You don't need tools or anything. Then, all you have to do is set the clock.
Running the machine is even easier!! Each of the settings is a picture on a touch-sensitive display on the front, and the space around each picture is large enough that it's easy to use even if you have large fingers. The options are very intuitive: single cup or carafe sizes; bold or regular brew; iced or hot coffee; set the clock; or set a delay timer. The hardest part is the initial experimenting to find out how much coffee to use. After that, you can easily use this machine even when half asleep.
I would like to make a special note that this brew station is PERFECT for kitchen counters and corners. The carafe is on the side whereas the single-brew station is on the front, meaning that if you place it on a corner of the kitchen counter OR a kitchen island, two people can be getting coffee at once with no hassles.
When testing this, I made standard coffee in the carafe and single-cup coffee, but focused on the single-cup settings because those were the ones I was unfamiliar with. If you don't already have a permanent gold filter for a standard coffee maker, you will need to either purchase one or use paper filters for the carafe side. The single-cup brewing side comes with both a permanent gold filter and an adapter for using with coffee pods. You can add up to three tablespoons of loose, ground coffee to the brewing basket for single cups, but I found a single tablespoon in a ten-ounce cup to be the most like standard, brewed coffee. You can either put a regular coffee mug on the drip tray, or just pull the drip tray off to use travel mugs that are taller. If you use a regular coffee mug or a paper cup, be prepared for a small amount of splashing; this is not a device you'll want to place on a white tablecloth, as I did.
For iced coffee, it says to add half of the volume of the cup in ice: for a 12oz cup, add 6oz of ice; for a 14oz cup, add 7oz of ice; etc. So, it is probably a safe rule of thumb to just fill up the entire cup with large ice cubes and then brew the coffee over it using the ice setting.
Although it is not advertised as such for it, I was also able to brew herbal and black tea by placing a tablespoon of loose leaves or two teabags in the basket, too. Since only one person in my family regularly drinks coffee, but we ALL drink tea, this was a most welcome development! This machine is really good for just dispensing hot water for instant hot chocolate, soup, or noodles, too. All you have to do is leave the brew basket empty. It's just so versatile, it's like having one of those expensive, break-room coffee vending machines at your fingertips!
I very, very much recommend this to anyone needing an all-purpose kitchen appliance to make their mornings, evenings, and breaks easier!

The Flex Brew

Nicely designed multi function coffee maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The FlexBrew 5-in-1 coffee make has a stainless steel thermal carafe, and keeps the coffee hot without continually heating it.
The single cup feature is well designed. Pick the carrier for either ground coffee or Kcup holder and fill it with the appropriate coffee, then select the cup size and go. Really like the simplicity of the touch LED screen. It is easy to figure out and wipe clean.
It is nice that you can easily change the location of the water reservoir from the side to the back. It is also easy to fill by removing it. The reservoir is designed with a recess to securely grab it, a nice detail.
The swing out basket is a big space saver. It swings out and removing the basket is simple by grabbing a small tab.
The clock is not well designed. You can’t just do hours and minutes and if you loose power you have to start over resetting it again.
This is a great multi function coffee maker with attention to details. It is well worth the money you’ve invested in it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Advanced 5 in 1 coffee maker is amazing! I love that I can brew a single cup or a carafe of 2-10 cups! It also has the option to brew over ice if you like ice coffee. I love that it takes coffee pods but also comes with a reusable pod so you can use your own ground coffee. The display is nice and easy to read. It is very easy to use and makes great coffee!

Versatility at it's best!

I can make a single delicious cup for myself or a whole pot when the kids come over. My daughter and I can enjoy a nice cold ice coffee outside when the weather is warm. My husband and I love a nice mild coffee and my son can have his a little bolder. Really great product!

It fits nicely in the corner of our kitchen so it does not take up too much space. We particularly like the iced brew and hot brew feature as well as the automatic functionality. We love having the flexibility to make different size cups of coffee as well as having the ability to make a pot of coffee. The stainless pot is very nice.

The Bold option is nice and produces rich flavor and the stainless steel carafe is great for keeping your coffee warm. I do wish it kept it hot for a little longer. The iced option is very nice and worked well with loose coffee grounds. The slim design is very attractive but you still need the space to get the side load carafe in and out of the machine. Overall I think it is a very good product.
