Battery leaks black fluid

I love the mower and not having to use gas! However, like some of the other reviews, after about 5 charges or so, my skil mower battery is leaking black fluid while on the charger and throughout the mower. The battery continues to charge (four green bars). But I'm now only getting about 45 minutes with one bar left. I used to be able to cut my entire lawn with 1 full charge but it now takes charging the battery a second and sometimes a third time. Appears to be leaking from the end pin holes. I also did not operate under "extreme temperature" conditions. I agree with the other reviews and this does not seem normal. Do I need to stop using the battery as well?

Battery Leaking Black Fluid After Five Charges

This is a follow-up review. After only 5 charges and while using my Skil 20" Lawn Mower the battery is leaking a black fluid. The battery still charges fully (four green bars) and operates for approx. 45 minutes with one bar left - but seems to leak the black fluid when hot. It first leaked from the end pin holes during charging and then at the base end seam when the mower was operating. Manual notes "under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery leakage may occur". Did not operate under "extreme temperature" conditions. This does not seem normal. Do I need to stop using the battery? Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This liquid is not battery acid or harmful to you. I Have Had My Core-40 Equipment For About 18 Months And I Have Had My First Battery Failure. I Just Use The Equipment For My Home Yard Maintenance, So They Are Not Over Worked. Disappointed That a Battery Failed On Me.

This was the first time using this tool, and I was a little bit skeptical when I first turned it on because is sounded very quiet. I was relieved immediately after the first sweep of the lantana. Don’t let the quietness fool you. This tool cuts through the branches like a knife through butter. I can’t speak to the battery yet, because I only operated it for 40 minutes. When I put it back on the charger, it still showed the battery was close to 100%. The best feature is that it’s cordless, so I won’t be destroying any more extension cords like with my old one. This alone makes it worth it. I will be using it again tomorrow, and if anything changes, I will update the review. Definitely a great tool to add to the collection
