it is practically impossible to wash the rubber in the lid. There was dirt that accumulated once the robber was removed. Unfortunately, it was impossible to put it back without breaking the lid. The bottle ended up in the trash.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Straws keep falling out of the top

The straw keeps slipping out of the top section and dropping to the bottom of the bottle. I have to unscrew the top and jamb the straw back into it to drink water. Otherwise the straw drops to the bottom of the bottle coming in contact with the bottle itself, so closely that it is difficult to suck the water into the straw. This has been going on with all three of the bottles that I purchased.

Question about cleaning?

This is a great product, I use it every day.
I’ve had it about 6 months but I’m noticing it is collecting black mold in the spout that is hard to clean.
How do you recommend I clean it?
Is the lid dishwasher safe or only the bottle?
I’ve decided not to use it until I can thoroughly clean or get a replacement spout/lid, any suggestions?

Hate the straw insert!

I’m very disappointed in the updated design. The old version had the straw screw in. This one simply gets pushed in by the user. If it’s pushed in at a slightly wrong angle, you either get air bubbles in your straw, or no water at all, if the straw ends up at the bottom of the bottle. Frustrating to use.

Waste of Money and Poor Quality

The quality has become so bad, they crack, leak and break SO easily. It is such a shame that Contigo will continue to sell such poor quality products and charge more than ever. We have always loved Contigo and they have been our go to cup brand for sports, school, and everyday life- these new cups we just bought have had 2 of the 3 break with in 8 weeks of use.

Excellent Warranty Service From Contigo

I've purchased two of these. The first began to have problems opening the autospout after about a year of daily use. After soaking it in soapy water, then it began to leak near the top of the straw. So for a while I just removed the straw and tipped it up to drink from. Later, on purchasing a replacement, I saw the advertised limited lifetime warranty from Contigo. I no longer had a receipt, and wasn't sure if this would be called normal wear and tear. I went ahead and submitted a warranty claim to Contigo, supplying the needed pictures that it called for. Three days later and my free replacement arrived.
I noted that the replacement arrived with the spout up. I think that may be to help preserve the springs for the autospout. Probably, if I likewise leave the spout open between daily uses, it might last longer.
Also, at one point with using the first bottle I trimmed the bottom of the straw to a 45º angle, as some times the end of the straw would seal off against the bottom of the bottle.
When I first got the bottle I tried to tip it bottom end up to drink from. That doesn't work! The air valve squeaks like a bird if you use it that way. Keep the bottom of the bottle down!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worst water bottle EVER!

Was starting a long road trip and was needing a new cup for the trip. Stopped in a store and selected a Contigo Ashland 24oz as it appeared to be a good product. Got back out to the car, filled it up with water and hit the road. A few miles out I tried to take a drink and got nothing but air. Decided to keep driving for a bit and look at the bottle later. After a couple more hours of driving I tried to figure out why the bottle was not working properly. It turns out that the rubber piece that connects the mouthpiece to the straw had somehow been pulled out or maybe was not properly installed to begin with. Apparently takes a complete disassembly of the lid to fix, requiring a specialty screwdriver bit to take apart. This was my first, and probably last Contigo product purchase ever.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
