Great ice, horrible quality machine

The nugget ice is the best around. However, I've had to replace mine 4 times in 3 years. For how expensive it is, this should last much longer. I'm very disappointed.

Nuggets cubes are the best

Set up can be a little tricky based on where you place the ice maker. The quality of the ice is off the charts though. Plus the nugget sized cubes are perfect for everything from sweet tea to water bottles. Restaurant quality.

Opal ice maker stopped working

Super unhappy with this ice maker. First the side tank stopped working getting water up through the hose then the whole thing isn’t making ice at all. And it’s only 1 1/2 years old. As a better product with a price to match, it should work better and last longer. The much less expensive Frigidaire ice maker I had that I gave to my grandma to get this GE opal one is still going strong after 6 years!

WORST MODEL DO NOT BUY

This ice maker has serious issues. I have the opal 2.0 and it is amazing! This icemaker that I am reviewing however is constantly growing mold and algea no matter how often I clean it. The water reservoir inside the machine is constantly hot due to the motor which I am sure is increasing the growth of the algea and mold. This is not a consumer error or issue this is solely a product defect. I have two of these and they both do this. They are both leaking white crust out of the bottom and side that appears like that of battery acid and they have rust from the copper element in the bottom. I DO NOT RECOMMMEND THIS MODEL to anyone. The company refuses to take responsibility or replace it. If a product does not work with the recommended cleaning and maintenance, then that should be fixed by the company.

Loud noise that I can't get rid of.

First off, I love the ice it makes but more often than not it makes a loud noise. I've cleaned it multiple times thinking that would fix the problem but it doesn't. Sometimes it will be quiet for a while and sometimes it makes noise immediately when turning back on.

Wish I would have purchased sooner!

I have wanted one forever but wasn’t sure if the nice would be like I wanted. Since it’s a big investment I hesitated. After being assured by those I know who have one, I made the purchase. Best gift I’ve ever given to myself. Love, love, love it. It helps me drink more water too so health benefit! Yay!
