Quiet operation but Big in Size

This is replacing an older "non nugget" ice maker. This unit is much larger than the old one, both in width (which was expected) due to the side tank but also in height. It will not fit under our kitchen cabinets as they are 17" from counter top. The unit is 17 1/4 tall. The old icemaker was 14 inches high. This makes it too tall to access the side tank for refills easily. Working on an alternate location in the kitchen now that does not have an upper cabinet.

Opal ice maker

I love my Opal that makes sonic ice. I no longer have to make a trip to sonic because I have my own machine that spits out ice that I love. I make a batch every few days. It is so convenient plus it saves me money in the long run. I was purchasing a bag of ice once or twice a week. No more!!Buy an Opal, you will love it!

Love the ice chips.. when it works. I read the reviews and didn’t think it would happened to me. But it makes this god awful noise. That we have to turn off. I’m really disappointed.

Hello- We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback. The noise you may be hearing happens when the opal is in need of defrosting. It may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic, and may take 30- 45 min. My pregnant wife had to have Sonic ice, and this has totally replaced that need. The machine is great, starts making enough ice for a couple people in just over an hour. With the side tank you can fill with whatever type of water you desire, be it filtered from your refrigerator or your favorite bottled water for further enhanced taste. We love it, and it’s also great for cocktails
