Works great. 4 stars only because the on/off button is hard to push & I wish it actually kept the ice cold & not just remaking after it melts.

Loud Noises, Too Much Maintenance, Slow to work

First off - we love the ice that it makes. It is exactly what we wanted. The machine is loud and makes a lot of noise when working. It also has required a lot of maintenance. It goes into clean mode every week. Now recently it slowed down making ice so we had to unplug and of course re-clean it again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GE Opal for Life !

Our GE Opal makes every other home ice maker obsolete. It’s so easy to use. The flavor and texture of the perfect ice pellets have our family drinking lots more water. We also spend more time on other drink recipes because we know no matter what, the flavor is going to be the best. We will have this machine the rest of out lives. Much better on the finances as we never the the purchase pellet ice from Sonic. Paid for itself in just a few months. THANKS

Love the ice but question the small appliance.

It makes really good ice. Based on 6 months experience I don't think this will last a reasonable life of a small appliance and certainly not a value for the cost. Overpriced. If you ask me if I would buy another from GE - NO. Frequently have to unplug because it stops working or responding.

Requires contact cleaning cycles

This ice maker makes nice pellet ice.. But you have to clean it so often that it's almost not worth the hassle. I have to clean mine, run vinegar through the cleaning cycles about once every week and a half
