Love this ice maker!

I love this ice maker. Very easy to set up. Starts making ice immediately. It does make some noise when it is making ice, but it is worth it. This is like Sonic ice and is chewable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I want to love it but.....

I installed my ice maker just 5 days ago. From the very 1st batch of ice, it squealed. In fact, the first time it did it, it sounded like a cross between a cat in heat and a cat being tortured. It scared me and my dogs so bad. I thought something had happened to one of my cats. I love the ice that it makes, but the noise worries me. If I didn't have to mail it back, I would have already returned it. But, I'm an amputee, in a wheelchair, and it's such a hassle and heavy! I'm so torn on what to do with this machine. A machine this expensive shouldn't be acting up 30 minutes into the first batch of ice. Very disappointed. Do better GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worked great for 9 months after that terrible grinding noise. Luckily I have extended warranty if this any good. We have installed auxiliary water filter and kept it clean. Not happy. Contacting ge now as extended warranty not in effect yet

I’ve been using water that comes from reverse osmosis and I have been descaling and cleaning this every 2 to 4 months as instructed but I am one and a half years into using it and it is now stopped working completely. I am not happy about this.

We have had a few issues with the product. Goes into cleaning mode and stays there until I unplug it and then plug it back on. Then starts making ice again

It is not abnormal for the Opal icemaker to need to be reset after going into cleaning mode. If you reset your unit and continue to have issues, we recommend contacting our Opal Support team at 1-866-907-6718.
