Numerous False Alarms

We had an electrician install seven 20SD10 smoke detectors approximately 3 months ago. These smoke detectors are wired in tandem to a 120v circuit so when one detector alarms, they all do. We have been rudely awakened by a loud piecing alarm on three different nights, each time where absolutely no smoke, fire, or even heat was to be found. The last time they false alarmed, in spite of turning off the circuit breaker, the blasted things kept alarming intermittently for 3 hours until they finally quit. If you want to be jolted awake and immediately thinking you and your family’s life is in danger due to fire only to find absolutely no reason for such concern, this is the product for you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Alarm going off - less than year

Rental unit I live in installed less than a year ago and it is going off. Took down to replace battery .. 10 year unit can’t replace. It say to clean but how do you do that

Less than a year and smoke alarms keep going off. I had these new alarms installed when I installed my new HVAC system and now 2 out of 4 keep going off. Horrible thing wont work when trying to reset or see how to replace the battery because you can't.

I bought this smoke detector less than a year ago (Model S0SD10 mfg date 04/26/2024) and it supposedly has a ten year warranty and is already alarming low battery. This is junk!

Purchased 10 year battery free model and installed in April 2025. Started beeping due to a fault less than three months later. Guess I should have read the reviews first. Kidde has had such reliable products in the past. I’m disappointed.

Installed this alarm in November 2024 and lasted 7 months. Had to disable it as it would not shut off. Go hardwired when possible.

Got this alarm due to the 10 year lifespan but it gave out about five months into having it. Now I’m just waiting to see if my other two give out this soon. Don’t purchase.
