Every single Kidde alarm has failed. Most failed within few months and last one within 1 year. The worst smoke alarms in the market.

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. Nuisance alarms can occur for different reasons which include common things like —cooking, aerosols, steam, or dust entering the sensor. Here are some tips to help solve this… you can use the Hush feature if safe to do so (i.e., confirming there is no actual fire), clean the alarm thoroughly with compressed air into sensor openings, and ensure it’s placed away from kitchens and bathrooms, as well as HVAC vents and fans. If the behavior continues after cleaning and relocating, please contact 1-800-880-6788 for additional support or replacement options.

My landlord installed this smoke alarm this summer (June). It has a date on it of 10/25/24 and the thing is already dead. It went off at 1am and I had to discharge it. Once you disable it, you cannot change out the batteries and reuse it. It’s done. If it actually lasted 10 years, that would be really helpful. But seeing that it was installed brand new and it lasted less than 6 months, it’s a horrible buy.

Constant false alarm after only 9 months

False alarm went off and couldn't get it to stop. 9 month old unit. Had to pull it apart and rip out battery. Happily threw in trash. Hope the ringing in my ears goes away soon.

I have an expection tomorrow. These are brand new no green light. Piece of crap. I read all comments and yes these smoke detectors need to get sue for faking it. Fraudulent I’m returning them back.

A nightmare do not buy

I dont even sure how this crap was able to pass any test before being placed in the market. You will get a heart attack for sure. Keep going off in the middle of the night for not reason and no way to turn it off i even desteoyed one with a hammer due to our frustration and being unable to turn it off. DO NOT BUY

Would not buy again

I just called this unit a possessed demon because of how it has been randomly going off both with the fault sound effect and the normal alarm for smoke detection. It’s like the smoke detector version of the “boy who cried wolf” fairly take. I have had it for less than a year, and finally decided to disable it permanently because I couldn’t figure out what was happening and was tired of being woken up in the middle of the night.
The problem with the “no battery” model is that when it faults - like this one has often - you can’t just pop the battery out. You have to just deal with it….or shove it in the cushions of your couch which is what I finally did.

DON'T BUY!

Bought this for our airbnb unit. Three months old and it went into FAULT mode (whatever that means) during a guest stay. Fortunately it was early evening and we were home because it requires a step ladder to reach. I reset it and kept it in my shop for a few days to monitor it. Two weeks later it went into SMOKE ALARM mode while the unit was vacant. A replacement under warranty is meaningless because it can't be trusted. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews until now. Piece of junk.
