Uneven cooking due to basket
on July 16, 2026

Decent fryer, but my issue is that if I put chicken in the deep fryer, some of it will cook and some of it will be frozen because of the huge basket in the way. It's so annoying. Don't buy this.

Dangerously vague storage instructions. Read before reusing oil!

This is an excellent machine mechanically, but the official storage instructions and FAQs on the website are dangerously vague and need massive warning labels. The website FAQ states you can store oil inside the container to keep it "fresh and clean," and that if it won't be used for "a long time," to store it separately. As an average consumer and not a scientist, I assumed oil that was filtered once would last for several months, just like fresh store-bought oil does at room temperature. This was a massive mistake. I reheated oil that had been filtered and stored for an extended period. Within 5 minutes, the oil underwent a severe chemical breakdown. It didn't smell rancid beforehand, but upon heating, it filled my apartment with thick, acrid, blinding fumes. My air quality monitor instantly maxed out at 99/100 for hazardous airborne compounds (VOCs). My girlfriend and I experienced instant eye burning, throat stinging, and difficulty breathing, forcing us to shut down the machine and evacuate to the balcony immediately. After researching the science behind used oils, I learned that even filtered oil retains microscopic food particles and moisture. Leaving it out at room temperature causes the fats to oxidize rapidly and creates a breeding ground for severe foodborne illness. Reheating it releases highly dangerous airborne irritants like acrolein and aldehydes. Luckily, we threw the food away and did not eat it, but we still suffered physical symptoms (headaches, eye irritation, and swollen glands) just from breathing the fumes for 5 minutes in an open-concept apartment. T-fal needs to fix their documentation. "A long time" is completely undefined. There should be massive warning labels stating that filtered oil should be stored in the refrigerator and discarded after a few weeks at most. If you buy this, ignore the FAQ: do not store used oil at room temperature, and change it frequently. It is a great fryer, but the vague safety guidelines are a massive hazard for everyday users.

Works like a charm, truly easy to clean and store away. Oil filteration is great, i used it 5 times with same oil for fries, fish, chicken and they all came out perfect each time. No lingering oil smell either and no mess. Happy with this purchase.
Fries, Chicken and Fish came out much better than stovetop.

Cheaply stamped basket holder fell off just outside warranty

I've had this fryer for awhile, but that is not the issue. After only about six uses, the basket holder fell off. It was just stamped into place -- no weld, no rivets, no screws. I just don't understand how this got past testing. I never overloaded it, just french fries, onion rings, chicken wings. So, now I have to stand there and hold it above the oil to let the excess drain instead of leaving it on the basket holder. Otherwise, it has been a decent fryer, with the filtering and storage working just fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Oh no—that’s definitely not the crispy experience we’re going for. Thanks for sharing this with us. A basket holder coming loose after just a few uses, especially with everyday foods, isn’t acceptable and we understand how frustrating that is.
We’d love to help make this right. Please reach out to our Consumer Care team at 1‑800‑395‑8325, and they’ll be happy to take care of you.

The best fryer by far
on March 19, 2026

I have had my for years and is the most practical fryer by far. Easy to clean one touch filtering and larger family size. It is economical because the filtering more frequently allows oil to keep from spoiling or burning.
