Great concept - BAD execution.

I cannot get this product to heat the oil properly. When set at 375 degrees, I'm lucky if get up to 340 degrees - and if you try to actually cook with it, it will never come back up even to the paltry 340 degrees you started with. Also, the drain doesn't really work. A very tiny amount drained into the reservoir and then it just stopped. it also seems pretty flimsy in a lot of ways. I doubt that it would hold up for long - even if you could get it up to temperature. So, while the design concepts are great, the actual product if very poorly made and just doesn't deliver on its promise.
I was concerned at the brand name and yet was impressed after its first and second uses. Now I'm experienced with the fryer and I have no negatives to share at all.
I had a t-fal fryer for several years and it worked well. The power unit on it died so I went to purchase a new one. Bought an Emeril fryer in place of it because it looked a lot like my t-fal but had a larger capacity. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake. I made sure it was not overfilled but when I went to make a second batch of fries, it immediately overflowed hot oil all over my counter and onto my floor. What also was a big problem, when the basket was raised for draining, it sat so high, you could not keep the cover on the unit. With all the popping noises coming from the oil, it was not safe at all. When I purchased this new t-fal fryer, it worked well. Had no problems with overflowing oil but I would like to know why the catch on the basket was lowered so much that the basket on the new one sits too high and now stops the cover from coming down all the way while the basket is draining. I actually took the basket from my old unit and used it instead of the new one.
Bought this fryer after reviewing several other fryers. Happily looked forward to using the Tfal. Well sure enough, invited 15 people for fried chicken and waffles. Read all instructions provided and followed each step including usin* the reset. Well to shorten my story the fryer never worked would not heat even after reaching instructions. Had to set this junk aside and pull out me old reliable cast iron skillets. I will never buy anything with tea. On it again. Save your money looked for a reliable better fryer..
I bought this on a whim because I love fried oysters. I used it for the first time yesterday and all the product features worked as described. It heated up quickly, the oysters came out just right, and the oil drained through the filter into the container. The major parts went right into the dishwasher, so clean-up was easy. I did not test the temperature of the oil, so I can't say whether it was precise. I was very pleasantly surprised, so I'm hoping it continues to work well.
This is another great convenience for the consumer but not for sumo wrestlers. The reviews I have read must be another product. This has to be one of the easiest fryers I have ever used. Heats up, put in whatever and presto done. French fries, donuts and eggplant. Let cool drain oil and wait for another easy day of frying. Be nice to your tools and they will be nice to you.
Liked the fryer until the cheap plastic selector knob on the front broke. Finally got to speak to a real person and was informed that I could not buy the knob... I ask what I was supposed to do " buy a new fryer ". She said that's up to you Bottom line , your not going to get any replacement parts
