Great concept, poor quality

Had I reviewed this product shortly after purchasing it I probably would have given it 5 stars, however I have had this particular unit for over a year (and previously had an older model). They're great at first but the low quality really shows after a while and they stop working properly. This one now doesn't properly come up to temperature. I'm done with these fryers. Much as I love the concept the quality is very sub par.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Love the Ultimate EZ Clean Deep Fryer! It's super easy to use and I love how much food you can fry up in a single batch. Wings are a staple in my house and this fryer easily does 30 split wings at once! Enough to feed 2-4 people! I had an older model and I noticed the bracket holding the thermostat wires to the heating element has been updated. The old one went across both bars, making it hard to clean. The new bracket on one bar only is so much better! The unit is about as easy to clean as a fryer can get and it's great all the stainless steel pieces can go in the dishwasher (even though I still prefer to hand wash). The fact that you can filter and drain the oil and store it below the fryer is the reason I wanted this model. Genius! It is large and takes up a fair bit of real estate on the kitchen counter, but I know that going in and it isn't an issue at all... Small price to pay for the cooking capacity. The break-away plug is a smart idea for safety reasons and the adjustable temperature is a must. I don't use the timer often but it's nice to know it's there. The basket itself is the best fryer basket I've used. Most are wire.... To make a basket with wire, the wire in the corner gets all crimped together creating hard to clean spots.... But not with this basket. The galvanized steel mesh is perfect for a fryer basket. Two thumbs up for this alone! If there were two things I would change on this fryer they would be: 1. The filter - there really isn't much of one. I would add a filter that is a little more substantial. Smell isn't a huge issue with this fryer since you are draining and cleaning the oil after every use, but the act of frying does create a certain fried aroma in the house. Definitely not a deal breaker, but hey... There's always room for improvement 2. The second thing would be the plastic oil box. It tends to be a bit leaky and the lid did warp a bit when washing in hot water (which is a must for something that holds oil). The plastic the box is made of reminds me of your dollar store reusable plastic containers. I'd prefer more of a Tupperware or Rubbermaid type plastic. Something dishwasher safe, at that. And really.... Let's talk "Lock 'n Lock" for the lid! Something with a gasket/washer that locks in place to prevent leaks. Again, not a deal breaker, just a couple ways to improve. Ultimately, I love this fryer and would buy again. It's the most-used small appliance in my house. Really. Up tonight: Poutine!

Great deep fryer

I bought this deep fryer about a year ago despite some of the poor reviews. I use it about once a week. I have had no problems with it and it fries wonderfully.
Received as a Christmas 2017 present. Used maybe every other month. First problem occurred last year, 2018. The filter got jammed up with tiny food particles so the grease wouldn't drain. Second problem was this year when the lid to the grease container fell off as I was pouring grease into the fryer. Third, and final problem happened today when the grease container started leaking from underneath. It's now in the trash and the grease is in a 4 quart empty ice cream container.
Definitely the best fryer we’ve owned. Used well over 100 times doing fries, fish, egg rolls, chicken tenders, and so much more.
The only issue we have is when changing the oil from the plastic collection bin. It leaks a little at the top, but changing the angle prevents that.
My biggest complaint if you could call it that is that I wish the heating element was a little lower in the oil to allow for more frying capacity. And there is a lack of accessories like clips or racks for things like corn dogs, or other skewered items.
I bought this and used once, so far. It performed well, kept temperature, but clean up was a huge mess. I waited overnight to drain the peanut oil into the storage container. It drained very slowly, ok, no problem but there was a lot of oil left in the bottom and so I tilted it forward to pool around the filter. Bad idea...The container Leakes the tilted forward. Even when you remove the container, if tilted towards to oil intake, it leaks, badly. What a mess. It's not a good storage container. The plug works fine, but beware, if tilted forward, the oil spills out...I would get another fryer, filter it myself...
I am giving this product only 2 stars, even though it does a good job of frying. The oil heats up quick and stayed a fairly consistent temperature. My problem with it is that, I have never had a fryer, that was so hard to clean and I have had many. It is such a problem, that I am looking for someone who wants it. I will probably never use it again.
