Removable plates not dishwasher safe as advertised

This waffle iron does what it’s supposed to do but we bought it specifically because of the removable Dishwasher safe grid plates. Tired of scraping waffle bits and overflow out of the crevices of our old maker, this was supposed to offer the easy cleanup we were dreaming of. We make waffles just about every other Saturday morning and have had this maker for 8 months and the plates are oxidizing or something. This photo of my hands is right after I pulled them from the dishwasher to put them back into the maker for storing away.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased this solely on the fact of removable plates. Done with trying to clean on machine. Makes great waffles so am thoroughly satisfied.

Really nice waffle maker, while it lasts.

I bought this waffle maker about 3 years ago. After one year, the beeper started malfunctioning. I had it replaced under warranty, which was nice, but now the replacement waffle maker is doing the same thing. There seems to be a design defect with this waffle maker that causes the beeper to go bad, probably due to moisture from the steam.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Makes good waffles but....

Good waffle maker but after repeated washing of the plates we found that upon removing from the dishwasher there was a black residue that came off the plates

I am very happy with this Belgian Waffle maker. Excellent features make it easy to prepare a large batch of perfect waffles to your personal taste. Temperature control with alarm for example. I make potato,vegetable waffle latkes! Krisp and perfect without deep frying. The non- stick coating works very well (just spray on a bit of oil). I just wish I could find out what material the non-stick coating is made of as I could not find it anywhere it product info?

Everything you want in a waffle iron and easy clean up. This product makes a perfect waffle every time. The beeper let's you know when it's ready. Durable and compact, a necessary kitchen appliance.

I love that the plates come off for easy cleaning and the booklet that comes with it breaks everything down in a simple way. The handle get pretty warm if you make a large batch but still isn't hot enough to burn you. Other than that, I really like this waffle maker
