It came in a box but it was easy to put together. The handles come off to make more compact for storage. It is very easy to use. I love that they thought to put an extension cord holder for safety.

It gets the job done.

The goal was to de-thatch the lawn on my newly purchased house that I knew was a mess and I did not want to rack twice a year as I had in the past. It was easier and faster than raking (and no bandaids). I’m sure if it was a level lawn it would have been easier. I look forward to where I will be in a couple seasons.

Seems sturdy built, assembly was a little tricky but got it done. 4 wheels helps keep unit level when using on lawn. Motor is powerful. Need to use heavy extension cord to power unit. Pleased!

Does the job

I bought this vs. renting a machine from the local HD/Lowe's for convenience, and that I may use it more often if I own it. It did a pretty good job, but required a lot of cleaning while conducting the dethatching. I was able to make one row up, and one row back before needing to clean the tines. It has held up for 1/2 the yard so far, and appears it's going to make it, so if you're in the same situation I am and like DIY, I'd recommend it.

Bought and received it this week. I ran the dethatcher this weekend found the unit to be strong. Pulled up a lot of "thatch". For functionality I give it 5 stars. I deducted 1 star for two reasons. I have a .18 acre property. The basket size is small and had to empty quite a few times, but the real reason is the corded feature. It gets in the way of the flow and constantly had to pull it out of the way. Lost a lot of time just doing that.

Purchased a month ago I used it on my front lawn. My only complaint is the bag falls off very easily and does not hold much.

Great Dethatcher

Been looking for a Dethatcher for my lawn. Decided to try this one after reading reviews. I love the 16" size . Easy to use . The back catcher actually works good, but still had to go over the lawn with my lawn mower to catch all the thatch. I did have some bare spots that I used the aerator/scarifier on. It easily plowed though the dirt for reseeding. (Its more like a tiller than aerator.) I am very pleased with this purchase. Will be checking next spring if I need to rethatch any parts of my lawn that I didn't get enough of. Overall very happy that I chose this 16" Westinghouse Dethatcher.
