[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Timing was right for this laptop. Came with the CPU/GPU combo I was looking for to fit in my new computer and still be portable & functional. Big upgrade for me from a 7yr old laptop. Nice to have the ability to upgrade key parts of the laptop including the coveted 2nd ssd slot. The real only issue is the cheap mediatek wifi card it comes with instead of a solid performing intell wifi card, but that is an easy and inexpensive change.

This is a fantastic notebook. I wanted the power of a gaming notebook, but I need to use it for everyday life and work. This doesn't look like a gaming notebook in anyway, and it doesn't have to be super loud to do normal computing jobs. Even when I am actually playing a game with it, using cool or auto, the fans are absolutely nothing like my HP Omen, which sounds like it's going to take off and explode.
The keyboard is very nice, and it supports any kind of lighting you want, especially just plain white. It does do flashing and waves of all different colors, but again, I don't need or want this and my HP Omen wouldn't do just white.
The OLED screen is actually stunning. I didn't think I would care, but that startup logo is actually amazing to watch. It isn't 16:9, which is odd, they went back to a more "Squarish" aspect ratio - not necessarily a bad thing, but I've spent the last 10 years getting used to wide screen. I think that the narrower screen gives the impression of a smaller monitor, which kind of makes me wish I'd gone for the 16" screen, but without being able to actually see the 16" in person to see if it's too big, I'm not going to dwell on that. A lot of online reviews have commented that the screen is too glossy, it is glossy, but I haven't had any issues with it so far - maybe when I try to take it outside...?
I am truly bummed that it doesn't have a fingerprint sensor. All of my notebooks for the last 10 years have a fingerprint sensor, even the cheapos, and typing my password every time is a chore. I have added a usb fingerprint sensor, but it's sticking out of the side and looks stupid :(
The battery is ok for doing anything normal, especially with the Intel GPU. If you start using the 5070, don't expect it to last very long, but it does perform great for the short amount of time you have. I'd rather have thin and light (for a powerhouse) than a huge internal battery that still wouldn't last that long anyway.
The vents do blow out the rear, and since I am a "Lap" top user, I find I sometimes have to move it around a little to even out the heat, but nothing I can't live with...
