I've been using the wrong equipments to clean my home until now. Bissell is great for the money. I now have the Crosswave, Big Green Cleaning machine and the 1547 Canister Vacuum. Wished I had done my research years ago, because I have damaged my delicate rugs and hardwoods using a vacuum with a beater. Better late than never! It's a pleasure to clean now. The stuff that came up off my rug was downright disgusting.
This vac is great on my laminate floors and I have a furry dog and two cats. The "Mini Turbo Brush" attachment doesn't fit properly which is a huge disappointment, so I can't clean my couch as well as I'd like This is close to a Miele that I had, though it isn't as good on carpet.
I have all hard wood and 2 dogs and 2 cats. The suction is amazing. I have even noticed I have to vacuum and dust the house less since using. Very light and easy to get under furniture. Highly recommend. Even my housekeeper wants to buy one.
First the good: My home is 99 percent hard floor and this vacuum is great for that. Canister vacs make it easy to get under things like couches and beds. Good suction and hard floor attachments get all the dust and dirt even along the baseboards. Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver. Love that the attachments are right on the handle, and really like that there is a slide on the main body of the vacuum to store the hose end upright and attached to the vacuum so that the hose doesn't end up flopping all over the floor. Also love bagless vacuums - just one more thing not to have to worry about ordering. Now the not so good: I have one throw rug that is 5x8 ft and really low pile. I also have two cats. The head for carpet is pretty much useless. It does not get up pet hair or dirt, and my rug is pretty much flat. Even when you raise or lower the brush on the carpet head it doesn't make a difference. Honestly didn't think it would bother me so much but it is pretty annoying. I wish that they would have included a power head for carpet too; that would have made this vacuum near perfect. Second not so great feature: bagless vacuums have filters. This vac has two - one is a small round pillow shaped filter on the top of the canister. This needs to be cleaned quite often so that the vacuum has maximum suction. The filter should be hand washed and air dried. This is not so bad, but it would have been nice given the cost of the vacuum to have an extra filter included so that you could continue to use the vacuum while you wash/dry the first filter. Also would have been so awesome if you could just drop this filter in your washing machine with your other laundry. If you only have hard floor this vacuum is a great option: if you have any kind of carpet you might want to rethink and buy something different.
The vac is quieter than my old unit so that's a plus and the hard floor attachment is the best I've ever seen. It's very articulating and smooth rolling. The absolute worst thing about the vac is the lack of real wheels on the canister. It's literally like pulling an anchor around. I miss having speed control or even just an on/off switch on the handle. Going back to the canister to turn it on/off gets to be a pain. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase, but I REALLY HATE the lack of real wheels on the canister.
