I bought this model a couple years ago after the one I had for years, stopped working. I am very unhappy with this model. Unless I am doing something wrong, the only way to vacuum seal is, if you slide the bag in and the machine senses the bag there. Then the option to vacuum lights up. The bags don’t always slide in evenly or they will bend, and if you try to lift the lid to straighten it out and put the lid back down, then the function to seal is the only one you have an option for. Lifting the lid and placing the bag in only gives you a seal option. So I am wasting bags trying to get a seal because it either won’t seal or it seals incompletely and I have to use a new bag. I also have to make the bags longer in order for them to seal. Older model was much better. New tech technologies is not always a good thing. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Although I have yet to use my new LIQUID Vacuum Sealer - I have used FoodSaver products for many years and have always been extremely satisfied with the outcome. My only issue has always been that I had to freeze soup or chili or liquids in general before I could seal the product for future use as I like to cook for more than one meal. So needless to say - I am excited about this new option.

Tried two of this model, both are junk.

I'm on my second unit. The first stopped responding to button presses. This started about 4 months into using the unit. I returned it and got the same model again. This one lasted about 9 months, then stopped pulling vacuum. When it does pull vacuum, it will never stop and hold the vacuum. If you try to seal the bag, it will slowly start letting air back into the bag. I see no reason to get another version of this inferior product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Piece of junk !!!

I bought this about 2 weeks ago. `We had a 5800 model before this and really enjoyed what it did with a lot of simplicity and ease of use. This piece of junk is a pain to make bags with, and a pain to vac and seal. The best place for this piece of junk is in the trash. Bring back the 5800 series that is faster to make bags and vac and seal

Must Remove the roll before sealing a bag

Received this Elite model yesterday and I can NOT believe you have t REMOVE the roll BEFRE you can seal a bag. This alone makes this unit terrible. A real failure of engineering.

Best Foodsaver yet!! Now when I put up fresh tomatoes and vegetables I can cook, cool and pour tomato juice or peas in water cooked in into foodsaver a foodsaver bag, set the liquid setting and foodsaver knows how much to vacuum and stops itself before liquids go over into machine and seals it. I lay bags down flat and freeze.
Before I had to put the foodsaver bags upright to freeze overnight and then pull out machine again to vacuum and seal. This new one is such a big TIMESAVER!!!

Worst ever!!!

This is my far the worst vacuum sealer that I have owned. Had one for 15 years, it worked great so when it finally died I decided to try this one and I am completely utterly disappointed in it. Horrible product.
