I was somewhat doubtful that it would be up to the task of chipping dead palm tree fronds which I have lots of on my property and the main focus of my constant cleanup problem. It works great on them. Sometimes a little difficult to feed into the small hopper, but once it grabs the frond it feeds it on through. I'm quite satisfied with my Sun Joe Electric Chipper/Shredder.
We used the chipper to reduce the volume of waste while removing a large Palo Verde tree from the backyard. It easily chewed up branches up to 3/4" in diameter. Instead of making 5-6 trips to the landfill hauling thorny branches, we loaded up our city green waste container a few times. It was a great value.
The picture of product shows square pads on the support legs, the unit I received did not have these square pads. My question is did you change the design and eliminate these square pads.
good product and does a good job as what it promoted. I have used other wood chipper but I am very happy with this CJ603E. By adjusting the blade adjustment knob to chip 1.75 inch dia. stem will go through no problem. It is a good buy. I recommend this wood chipper.
I had a Sun Joe CJ601E chipper before and it only lasted 1 year. The motor bearing fell out of the plastic casting. But I am 100% happy with this CJ603E wood chipper. It is powerful and easy to use . The cutting blade and motor design is totally different from Sun Joe CJ601E. The beauty of this unit is the adjustment of the cutting blade and the counterplate by turning the adjustment knob. I can looking from the top of the feeding funnel and turn the knob countaclockwise for bigger branches. Bigger the gap bigger the branches. By adjusting this space I can feed through 1.7 inch diameter. If the stem is freashly cut and wet, you may have to feed through twice and will chip to mulch for you. I will recommand to anyone for this model for the money.
