Why buy a gas mower?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice mower. Seems to be very well made. Have used it only 2 times on about 2 acres. Plenty of power and only used 60% of the battery charge. Noticeable power going uphill. Replaced a John Deere rider that just creeps uphill after running for 30 minutes. If you have what I would call a country property that is not a manicured smooth lawn, this machine appears to be what you need.
Pros: Quiet, Durable, Powerful

Fun to Mow Again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to go with the Battery Operate Riding Lawn Mower for several reasons. 1) I am getting too old (75 year old, female) to continually have to fill up heavy gas cans, lift them up to fill the tank and smell the fumes as I mow. 2) No more oil and filter changes, spark plug changes and battery maintenance.
I am so happy that I ditched gas and took the plunge to Battery Operated. The mower has been a dream to ride with comfortable seat, speed controls, constant blade speed and so many blade height adjustments. My yard lot is 80 x 120 and thus far I have been able to mow the yard 3 times without having to recharge the batteries. I am actually enjoying mowing the lawn for the 1st time in a long time. Highly recommend...buy one now.
Pros: Convenient, Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

First time electric mower: so far so good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my 60v 42" riding mower, unpacked, and assembled and mowed the front pasture that was long and ragged after a dry winter. Nice cut, fast, and used only about 40% of battery. The ride is a little stiff and jerky but the cut is fast and clean. So far so good.

Years or research before buying led me to purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying I’m a tough critic. I owned and operated a commercial lawn service in Florida for many years, and over that time I’ve owned dozens of mowers across many brands. I’ve put equipment through serious “torture tests,” so I can confidently say this is a thorough, experience-based review of the mower I chose for my own property.
I never really considered electric mowers for commercial use, so I didn’t have any firsthand experience with them in that setting. However, after selling my lawn company in 2020—and having a long-standing interest in battery technology—I always thought I might eventually make the switch. I just could never justify the cost… until my family and I purchased 5.5 acres in Southwest Florida.
I bought this Greenworks mower specifically to handle that 5.5-acre property. As many people know, the turf here is primarily St. Augustine and Bahia grass, which can be thick, dense, and challenging to cut.
During the first few mows, I ran both the blade speed and drive speed on high. In that configuration, the battery didn’t quite last through the entire job, which was a bit disappointing—especially since some reviews claim it can handle up to 5 acres on a single charge. That said, it wasn’t a dealbreaker; it gave me time to switch over and do some weed eating while the batteries charged.
I then experimented by lowering the blade speed, and to my surprise, it made a big difference in runtime without sacrificing cut quality. The mower still delivers a clean, even cut with very few stragglers. With the blade speed set lower, I’m now able to cover about 5 of the 5.5 acres on a single charge, which is a significant improvement.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the cut quality and performance.
That said, there are a couple of drawbacks worth noting. One is traction: despite having fairly aggressive tires, they tend to lose grip quickly, especially on steeper inclines. Because there’s no heavy engine weight over the rear wheels like on traditional gas mowers, you’ll notice some slipping when climbing hills.
Another issue is the charger—it continuously runs its cooling fan, even when the batteries are fully charged and not actively charging. To work around this, I added a tiered power strip with a timer function. I set it to shut off after about 4 hours, which gives the batteries enough time to fully charge after being drained, then powers down the charger between uses. Since I only mow once a week, this has been an effective and simple solution.
Overall Im extremely satisfied with this mower. No fuel, no oil no hydraulic oil or maintenance that cmsih the a mower. just get on and go any time. Also with my AirPods on I can talk on the phone while mowing and cutting with zero noise heard from the other end of the phone call. Simply amazing to multitask as I used to have to constantly shut the mower to take calls.
