Love this mower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower in 2023. It still performs great. Had one battery die but it was under warranty and they replaced it for no cost.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a bit less than 2 acres. The machine cuts well but I have to charge it twice to get it done. The batteries charge fast though. I was expecting a bit more cut time and it's a little dainty compared to my Scag. Revrse is super slow. I hope I never run into a hornets nest with it. Also the batteries need to be removed to charge which is a pain.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet, Effective
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Allen Smith.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the 80V 42" CrossoverZ. We are glad to hear it cuts well and that the fast-charging batteries are a plus, but we also understand your concerns about runtime, reverse speed, and the battery removal process.
Cutting close to Two acres can push the limits of a single charge. Factors like grass density, dense, tall grass will require more power, reducing battery life. A flat, well-maintained lawn will be easier to mow and last longer. Terrain, hilly or uneven terrain can also impact battery life, requiring more effort from the mower and draining the battery faster. If the grass has been left to exceed Four inches, we advise that you raise the cutting height and cut no more than one-third of the length of grass at a time, wait a couple of days and do another one-third, cut when grass is dry and walk at steady pace to allow the blade to work more efficiently. As the lawn becomes consistently maintained you will see the cut and runtime improve. Hope these tips help! We understand that having to remove the batteries for charging can be inconvenient, and we appreciate you pointing that out. If you'd like to talk through any tips on optimizing runtime or general use, our support team is here to help. You can reach us at 1-888-909-6757 or via Live Chat on greenworkstools.com.
Thanks again for your feedback — it plays an important role in how we continue to improve.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have just over half an acre, and it was too much to mow by hand. I adore greenworks’ products, and intensely dislike filling gas cans and yanking chains. Also, maintenance is a pain for gas thingies. This was a no-brainer. The 42” fit perfectly in a shed with a 48” door opening.
I was unprepared for the steering arms, and nearly ran over my brother. While I do have another brother, my mother would have been furious. I think that I would have been much better at driving this had I ever played video games. Happily, I have gotten MUCH better at steering. This mower does a fabulous job! It mowed nearly foot-high grass like a champ. The zero-turn feature is fabulous! I now love mowing the grass. It is finally tamed, and it doesn’t look like a carelessly abandoned property anymore.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this mower last summer when it was fresh out in our area. It has been my best friend and I love using it. People drive-by, as I am mowing my yard and slow down and stare.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have mowed twice now with this mower and it does a really nice job. My reason for only three stars is it gets no where near the advertised 5.1 acres per charge. I have just under 3.8 acres to mow and I can get about 60% of that on a single charge assuming I use the lowest power level on both the blades and the drive. I do however have a rolling yard with a lot of up and down grade driving so I'm assuming that's part of the reason for less area per charge. I also have several bushes and trees and various obstacles to mow around which probably also lowers the acreage per charge. I would suspect if you have a flat 5 acres that only required back and forth mowing you would get closer to advertised mowing area. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with the mower so far. The batteries charge to full charge in 2.5-3 hrs and the lights work great for after dark mowing to escape the summer heat. The only other thing you might offer would be tractor tires as an option rather than turf tires. On rolling ground, the mower does a lot of tire spinning and sliding.
Pros: Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Powerful
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hello JDC2071. Thank you for sharing your experience. The maximum runtime often applies to a flat, open yard. Slopes and obstacles require more power, and users can expect running time to be less, if this is the case. Runtime measurements are also related to the condition of the grass and if it is well-maintained. Tall, thick grass requires more power, and you must mow it slower, consuming added runtime. Here are a few tips to ensure the max runtime is achieved. Ensure you charge the battery fully before each use, maintain the battery properly by cleaning terminals, avoid extreme temperatures during storage, consider buying a second battery for larger lawns, mow in a straight line, and choose a mower with a powerful battery suitable for your lawn size. If the grass has been left to exceed 4 inches, we advise that you raise the cutting height and cut no more than one-third of the length of grass at a time, wait a couple of days and do another one-third, cut when grass is dry and walk at steady pace to allow the blade to work more efficiently. As the lawn becomes consistently maintained you will see the cut and runtime improve. We hope others will find your review helpful.
