[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was always intrigued by this machine and finally decided to try it for myself. I’m so glad I did! This Seal-A-Meal is so practical, yet so amazing! It came with a few starter bags so I could get started sealing right away. I used it to seal bags of leftovers that I turned into freezer meals for another day. I also used it to seal some dessert bars so they would stay fresher longer. When I buy meat in bulk, I can split it into bags and vacuum seal them before putting them in the freezer. I can even reseal opened snack bags and cereals so they don’t get stale nearly as fast. It’s well worth the small investment for such great returns. Not only is this machine so helpful and handy, it is also so easy to use. Plug it in, place the edge of your filled bag in the machine, press down and done! No more wasted food around here!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This seal a meal vacuum sealer is great. It’s small, very easy to use, and it’s fast! I can see how this is going to save money with buying in bulk, the food will last longer than regular freezer bags. I always take the air out of regular freezer bags to help preserve longer but this makes my like much easier! It’s a must try!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a foodsaver years back and found it cumbersome, so I didn’t use it. This one, however, is great! It’s perfectly simple and the slim design makes it easy to store. It does exactly what I need it to do….remove air and seal the bag. If you’re looking for lots of features or bells and whistles this is not for you. I was fortunate to receive this at Christmas and it was put to good use. Again, simple and slim.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this in at the right time, Christmas left overs never looked so good sealed up. We do not only used it to send food home for the grandkids but we sealed up Christmas stuff the grandkids made for the tree we didn't want to get wet. We couldn't not ask for a better product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was skeptical at first about this, we have a freezer that always is packed and we gave this a try to help solve that problem. As left overs, or meal prepping was done, we would seal it with the included bags (a good supply).
Remarkably, it really does save space - I shouldn't be so surprised I guess, thats what this does but wow it really does it well.
So far we've able to store the same amount, with much more room to spare, and able to see and find things with that extra organization.
I love it, and will keep using it - being a convert!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Seal-A-Meal vacuum sealer makes it easy to portion out proteins, save meals and prevent food waste. The sealling machine comes with a handful of bags to get you started and although the bags look pretty small, they actually hold a lot. The machine itself is really simple to operate and it even has step-by-step instructions on the top.
Basically all you do is put your food in the bag, put the ends of the bag in the removable trough (yay for easy cleaning!) and then close the machine and press down where the hand icons are. My first few attempts at vacuum sealing were unsuccessful, but I learned a couple things in the process to help others out. First, when you put the ends of the bag in the trough, they need to be just barely in there. Once you close the top of the machine, take a second to tug on the sides of the bag to straighten it out. The machine will not seal if the bag is creased at all — this is especially important if you’re trying to seal something thick that will cause the bag to pucker slightly. Finally, when you press on the top of the machine to turn it on, spread your fingers out so your hands aren’t just on the very sides. Aim to cover about 1/2 the top of the machine. For some reason, this seems to make a difference — maybe due to more even pressure?
You’ll know if you have the bag positioned correctly and everything pretty quickly as vacuuming takes place immediately and the air is sucked out of the bag in just a few seconds. As the air is taken out of the bag, a light on top indicating “hands free” will come on so you stop pressing down. It will automatically seal the bag once all of the air has been removed. To take the bag out of the machine, you just press the only button on the device and it will release.
Just like other small appliances, this one takes a little practice to get the technique just right, but once you do, the seal is very good. I did not experience any air leaking back into the bag like I have in the past with other sealers. The quality of the bags is very good and freezerburn or air spoilage should not be an issue at all. I primarily use vacuum sealaers to portion and freeze meats, but I can also see this being very useful for meal prepping, measuring and storing cut vegetables during the week.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the size of this machine. It is easy to store away when not in use and the trigger mechanism seems to work well. On the down side I miss not having the vacuum port on the machine. It also does not do well with the roll stock. Using pre-sized bags seems wasteful at times.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this about three weeks ago and am so glad I did! The seal a meal by food saver is a must have product for any fisherman or hunter. We are big wild life hunters in my family and the seal a meal has come in so handy when it comes to storing our meat. It is very simple to use and makes for easy storage. The vacum seal creates a no air seal, which means no freezer burn. Just delicious meat. Definitely recommend!
