No more freezer burn!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We buy a lot of our meat & other food from a warehouse store so I freeze a lot of stuff. This Seal-A-Meal by FoodSaver is exactly what I need to keep the food free from the freezer burn that it gets from just using regular freezer bags. The instructions are very easy to follow & this product is really simple to use. It only comes with 4 pre-cut vacuum seal bags so I’ve already had to go out to buy more (I chose the roll rather than the pre-cut bags so that I can make larger/smaller bags as I go along). I used the pre-cut bags to seal several pounds of ground beef that I had just bought. The process is quick & the lights on the machine let you know when to press on the top with your hands & when to let go. It is louder than I thought it would be so be ready for that. Once the sealing process has completed, just push the button to release the top of the machine & your sealed food is ready to go into the freezer. The only thing that I wish was different is the length of the electric cord. My house is 70 years old & doesn’t have a lot of outlets so I have to move everything from one end of my countertop so that I can plug this in or I have to use an extension cord. A couple of extra feet of cord would be really helpful for people in my situation. Otherwise, I love this machine & expect to get a LOT of use from it.

Poor Vacuum Food Sealer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used 3 of the 4 bags that came with this seal a meal food saver. It does seal but does not vacuum the bag. I did review the instructions several times making sure I was properly using the sealer to no avail.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Your feedback is important to us. We would like to suggest some troubleshooting that might help with the mentioned issue :
1. Check the upper and lower gaskets of the machine. If either of these is damaged or dirty, the unit will not vacuum properly. Clean any food materials from the gaskets. Remove the lower gasket, flip it over, reinsert it into the unit and test the unit.
2. Make sure the open end of the bag is resting entirely inside of the Vacuum Channel. The edge of the bag should not go beyond the Vacuum Channel. Do not make your own side seams for a FoodSaver Bag. They are manufactured with special side seams sealed all the way to the outer edge.
3. Check the bag for leaks. Seal the bag with some air in it. Submerge it in water and apply pressure. Bubbles indicate a leak. If the bag has a leak, a new bag is needed.

Great kitchen tool

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am in love with my Seal-A-Meal by Foodsaver!! I have always had a bad habit of letting my frozen food go bad using cheap baggies. Not anymore! It is so quick and easy to use and works so well! I have sealed everything in my freezer! Instructions were super easy to understand and set up is super simple. 10/10 recommend!!

Keeps my garden produce fresh

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I always wanted to try one of these. I grow a lot of vegetables and kitchen herbs and this is a great way to help preserve them and keep them fresh tasting. It's also great when I stock up on meats, I like knowing that I can get all the air out of the bag which keeps ice crystals from forming. Storing my garden produce in these bags take up less room in my freezer which is a plus for me because it gives me more storage space.

So there is always a lot of leftovers which usually get tossed because they don't stay fresh enough. Then I came across the Seal-A-Meal and my problem of saving food was not an issue any longer. inconsistent operation

vacuum sealing inconsistent. hard to get machine to vacuum correctly unless end is inserted just right and you put a lot of pressure on top of unit. When it does work, it seals quickly.

Awesome Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy with how this product performs. I bought a very large grill a few months ago and I will buy a dozen + chicken breasts or pork or whatever and slow smoke the meat for hours. We will then take the rest and seal and save for quick meals. I have zero freezer burn on the meat and it tastes as good out of the freezer as it does when I take it off the grill.
