It's just like camping in a tent. the sunlight gently awakens you. It was tricky learning how to set the length of time for the sunrise and the brightness of the light. I've got that all down now and love it:) the light wakes me before the birds ever go off.
Pros: sunset function is nice to go to sleep by, sunrise is a gentle wake up
Now that I have one, I can't imagine not having the Wake-up Light

My first Wake-up light had a hiccup after three weeks and the light quit working. No problem. Philips' customer service department is wonderful, and a replacement was sent within a week. In the interim of the original breaking, and the new one being delivered, I realized how accoustomed I'd become to waking with the Wake-up Light, and I missed it every morning. The new Wake-up Light is problem-free, and I love waking to it. The wake-up-light starts soft and warm and gets just bright enough to wake me without searing my tired morning eyes. The light duplicates natural light very nicely, and it is a great evening-reading light as well. I do love this clock and will buy another one for a spare room and/ or gift.
Pros: the light duplicates natural light, has nice audio wake-up options, is aestheticly pleasing
Cons: the touch screen is very sensitive, the light does not "snooze" like the audio
I bought this just over a week ago. I live in a back-split apartment and the bedroom is in the basement. Waking up in the dark every morning wasn't hard, it was almost impossible. I have been waking up with just the light, even before the sounds starts. This is the best thing since sliced bread!
It takes a couple days to figure out which light brightness works best. My suggestion is to start with the brightest setting and then work down.
The Bird sounds aren't annoying like other "Nature Sounds"
I would definitely recommend if you live in a basement apartment, or just have trouble snoozing in the morning.
Pros: no morning groggyness, adjustable light brightness, can be used as a nightlight, birds aren't annoying, sleep timer, gradually gets brighter/darker, doesn't give me a heart attack
My only complaint...the buttons difficult to find, and it's easy to knock it over fumbling for the buttons. Wish it was designed differently. But, it works great, and serves a purpose. Would buy again.
I do not use this as instructed because it is too big and unwieldy to use as an alarm clock. I'd knock it over the first night. So it's on the other side of the bed, set to full brightness. Nevertheless, it really helps as a wake up aid. I can tell the difference. I'm a bit confused as to why the color temperature on full brightness is not closer to sunlight, as that's what I get in the summer time through an east-facing window.
I really love using this product. It gives us a mellow adjustable room light and a cool way to wake on dark winter mornings. I also love the delayed off function that I use every night when going to bed. My only criticism is that it might be difficult for some people to use the buttons. I have become familiar with them because I use them every day. An infrequent user, though, such as my wife, would be baffled by the buttons and might not even know how to turn the lamp on or off. I mean, once you play with the buttons a bit, it's no big deal but even for me, I have to feel around to find the button I'm looking for. Other than that, the product works great and is really fun to use.
Pros: works as advertised, great way to wake up & go to sleep, looks cool and provides warm light
