No battery back up!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looks nice. Good design, but lacks a major feature: NO battery back up. Even a short interruption in the power supply will reset the clock to 00:00, and this is an ALARM clock.
How can I rely on it to wake me up on time!
How can an alarm clock be designed this way?
Ratings clarification:
Overall rating: 1 star for the lack of power back-up for the clock function. It is so simple to build it in and so annoying not to have it! Otherwise it looks and feels very elegant European design.
Performance: 4 stars, one star short for poor radio reception, not picking the signal well enough. Finer antenna alignment may work, but other radios I have work better without need of extra tweaks.

Ease of use: 3 stars click sound when using the touch buttons is nice feature. Menus could be more clear. Snooze time length should be adjustable.
Design: 1 star for the lack of power back-up for the clock function.
Pros: dawn simulation, looks
Cons: no power back-up, no bluetooth connection

This is a good product, especially for someone working shift work or someone who has difficulty waking.
It was a little tricky to get all the settings set up the first time but otherwise a very good product.
It was a gift so I don't know where it was purchased.

This product delivers what it advertises. Wake up in a much more soothing way that a screaming alarm. I really like & use the sunset feature it helps you unwind. It triggers your natural circadian rhythm. Wonderful product. I had a hard time with the directions didn't think they were very clear. Had to read several times. Overall though I love this product!
Cons: need clearer directions

Fancy but flawed product

I really like the concept of this lamp but a few issues made me return it. For one, four out of the five natural sounds include birds chirping, so if birds in the morning actually annoy you there are few options for you. Even the waves function has seagulls screeching and you can barely hear the waves. It would be awesome if you could set the alarm sounds to come on gradually as well, but they get loud pretty quickly. The backlight sensor for the buttons did not work on mine, so finding the lamp button in the dark was difficult. I also wish there was a way to turn off the display entirely when you go to sleep. I did like how you can set two different alarms and also the amount of time that the clock takes to fully light up. The sound was nice, not tinny or rattly like other natural sound machines. I would probably purchase again if they offered better sound options and made it easier to find the lamp button in the dark.

Waking up to the light and birds singing is the best. Also nice to have the light fade out in the evening. Just perfect.
Pros: so much better than an alarm.

Needs Bluetooth to address poor user interface

My brother has the Beddi nightstand LED clock. It is controllablevia Bluetooth, which would make the Philips light far more usable, as the buttons aren't intuitive, as I often turn on the radio trying to turn off the alarm. The high cost of this light should include include control via Bluetooth. The slowly increasing simulated sunrise eases waking up, along with the tweeting bird noises. It is much preferred to a standard obnoxious alarm in a dark room.
Pros: simulated sunrise
Cons: no bluetooth supoort, non intuitive button interface, limited alarm sounds

Manual figures a little pale for my older eyes.
So detailed that my brain went way ahead so had to set up several time. After one week, I think I got it!
Pros: lovely waking up that way
Cons: too big!, very tedious nosy registration
