This alarm has some super design to it, it not only looks good sat on the beside table, its light and timing functions are great too. It is easy and simple to set up without too much bother.
We used the sound function once in conjunction with the wake up light, but we have found there was no real need, as the light itself does an excellent job in waking us up. Wake up is now to a pleasant daylight rather than our old alarms that would wake us abruptly and suddenly....our days are off to a much more serene and happy start!
Night time is just as wonderful! With the ability to opt for the duration for dimming, it is a perfectly dreamy way to fall asleep.
Our days start very early and quickly and so the light remains on until we leave the house - it could be useful to have a small raised bump on the light switch itself so you could find it easily, as there are three buttons all sat next to each other - it's still relatively new so I am sure we will get to find it intuitively, however it would be a helpful feature.
Our only real regret.... we wished we had purchased one a long time ago!

I had heard of the term "Wake up light," but had little idea about the item itself or functionality. I wanted to take the time to contribute to this review so that others who are considering this product (either this model or another one) will have some insight on what choice to make. As I titled my review summary, this product does indeed work as intended. I have been used to waking up to the sound of a buzzing alarm clock for years-even so, I was excited about an opportunity to wake up and not feel exhausted from hitting snooze on the alarm excessively and finally forcing myself out of bed. From the first day, I immediately noticed a difference with how I felt waking up with this lamp..it is clear that this a high quality light with soft illumination. I don't feel that it really mimics the sunlight as advertised, but the gradual levels of brightness do alert my body that it is time to wake up very pleasantly. It is worth noting that this is one of those "tech items" that you either really need or really don't. If you have a problem waking up in the morning, this would be a good investment, but maybe in a cheaper model ( I went with the "best seller"). While I am happy with how this light makes me feel in the mornings now, I can't give this five stars because this light is not for everyone, unless you have extra money to spend on a big and pricey desk or night lamp..which leads me to my criticisms. As some of the previous reviews mentioned, this lamp is rather big so make sure you have room for it. Also there should definitely be more than 5 nature sound settings..perhaps 10 or 12 ( I only like 3 of them). One more minus is that for this cost, a battery backup and phone sync up with an app would be more than fair. These additions would make the cost of this light more acceptable to me. But again, since I did have a specific problem waking up in the morning, this was my solution overall and for that I will look forward to using this light for a long time.

Cons: large size, no battery backup, no product-to-phone/app sync, limited nature sounds selection

Love the use of lighting to go to sleep (10 minutes) and to awaken(with the birds).

When I received the product it took me about two hours to figure out how to program it to have the alarm and light come on in the morning. Later, it took me at least a half an hour to make a change in the setting. I highly recommend Philips write a new instruction book which clearly describes the setting process.
Pros: nice to have light gradually go on

I purchased this alarm to help wake up during the dark winter mornings. Initially I had the light set too bright and the nature sounds too loud, but once I turned them down, I enjoy waking up to a warm glow and the sound of birdsong. It helps me wake up gently when I am not on a regular schedule.
My cat seems to enjoy it as well.

I bought this because I'm not a morning person and I hate regular clock alarms.
The light does wake me up and I find the sounds are more agreeable than a regular beep alarm.
I like the design, the product is neat . The problem is the physical buttons.... they're not well placed. They're not intuitive, maybe a tactile bump will make more easy to locate and use the light button. Also, I dont like that every day I have to turn on the alarm.
