I thought I could add it to my Phillips hue app as an accessory in hopes I can manage all my settings from there. It’s not available under accessories. I just set it up so I don’t have an opinion on it’s wake up capabilities. The manual does imply you can set it up with 2 different alarm features for diff. Days but that’s not an option so don’t be fooled. I read some other reviews because I didn’t know if I should set it up for 12 hrs or 24 hrs and I can’t seen to find an impact statement that explains what if scenarios. Use to an AM PM setting , gives me a better sense of reliability. I set it for 24 hours since I assume every 12 means twice a day. Fingers crossed it goes off in the morning and is smart enough to know I set it up at 6pm. Phillips can you please add the lamp to the app so I can set it up for different bridges and in the app settings provide intuitive setup instructions? I mean for Heavens sake, I set up my wake up in my bedroom with my ceiling fan over the bridge intuitively - why can’t you take programming notes from the cool options on the app and apply it to the FH3520? I am not sure if I would recommend yet.
Pros: brightness and contrast, dimms on and gets brighter, radio vs programmed sounds, will use birds sounds nice choice
Cons: isn’t an accessory in the hue app, don’t want to reset daily, doesn’t set a daily schedule, manual doesn’t explain 12 hr vs 24 hr, not intuitive
The only complaint I have is being able to easily find the buttons. They are hard to see and hard to tell what they turn on/off. The button sensors on the front are the same way. It would work best for me if the buttons were all on the back and clearly marked.
Having an alarm I could set on automatic would be convenient also. I would like to set it and forget it but this one has to be turned on and off. Having a setting that turns the light off during the day would be convenient also.
Pros: nice shape, light slowly gets brighter like a sunrise
I find it really hard to wake up and get going in the mornings during the fall/winter months and my previous alarm was jarring. I purchased this after reviewing several other wake up lights. Since purchasing this 3 months ago there have only been 2 days where it didn't wake me before my cell phone alarm, and those were days where I was really short on sleep. The light does the job, I love it and highly recommend it. This light was bigger than I originally expected but it fits on my nightstand and works great so it's not a bother.
Pros: gentle effective alarm, works as stated, easy to use
This wake up light has been such a game changer in my life! I've been using it over 2 years now without issue. I like the sunset feature alot, use it every night. But the biggest thing is it's function as an alarm clock. It's a night and day difference (pun intended) going from old fashioned alarm clock shocking you awake to this sunrise effect naturally and gently preparing your body to wake up. Sometimes the light wakes me up before the sound comes on, but I usually need the sound. Seriously tho, waking up to a lit up room is so amazing. I love this thing. It's not perfect, the buttons are a little tricky to find at times, and with such a small base it can be easy to knock over, but these are minor inconveniences in my opinion, in light of its function and execution. Its worked flawlessly. It also was very useful when we had our last baby who's crib was in our room for a couple months. We just left the light on its lowest setting all night, so mom had a gentle light for feeding at night. It goes very dim before going out. Having a dedicated alarm clock has also had other positive effects on my life. It replaced my phone as my alarm clock so my wife and I charge our phones in the kitchen overnight and we don't have to have those soul sucking gadgets at our bedside just begging us to scroll mindlessly for hours every night. Sooo glad to be rid of that. In summary, better your marriage and get a wake up light!
I can honestly say this alarm clock has made my wake up experience the easiest it ever has been. I do feel more awake when I wake up and less cranky (I am NOT a morning person). You can set the sunrise timer on anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes so that it slowly lights up the room. I currently have it set on 20 minutes and that seems to be working nicely. Occasionally I do wake up near the beginning when it is still orange and then fall back asleep until it is fully bright and it plays the wake up sound. I also really like most of the wake up sounds - they are very peaceful, either soft birds chirping or relaxing piano music.
I am not very tech-savvy, and have had no issues figuring out how to use it with the help of the manual it comes with. As others have said, you do have to set the alarm every night, but I don't mind this at all. I just press 2 buttons and it is good to go. It also makes a nice reading lamp at night as I can adjust the light intensity so my husband can sleep!
Pros: feel more awake in the morning, lovely wake up sounds, effective light/lamp, visually appealing, adjustable light intensity
[Employee of philipsglobal] I absolutely love how the natural lights and natural sounds gradually increase. It is so beneficial to wake up and not be startled awake like you are with a traditional alarm. It actually makes me feel more rested. There is a significant difference in how I feel since waking up with this product
I bought the light to help with waking up on dark winter mornings, and it really does! The product works flawlessly and was very easy to setup and use. I bought it for the light but the radio has good sound and so I’m using that as well. Happy I bought it and definitely recommend it if the lack of sunlight in winter makes it hard for you to get going in the morning.
