I'm light sleeper and pretty sensitive to sounds and this has created a lot of animosity between myself and various alarm clock solutions. After years and years of waking up with a jolt every day no matter the sound settings, I heard about light based alarms. The technology makes sense as, when I sleep outside, I'll wake up at around 6am feeling ready to go. I then did some research on light-based alarms. My goal in researching products is to find three reviewers who all list a single product as their number one. In this case the search was over quickly, they all agreed on this alarm. Several weeks after purchasing, I find it to wake me reliably and without that jolt of reaction to sudden noise. Great product.
Pros: effective when callibrated correctly, much more gentle than a traditional alarm, easy to use, sunset simulation is surprisingly soothing
Cons: exists solely for the purpose of waking you up
This product would be better if there were an app that was connected to it so we could set wakeup, light, and everything else. Also, doesn't need an FM radio, just a way to connect bluetooth so we can connect Spotify or Apple/Google music for wakeup songs.
The WORST product I have ever seen. No weekend schedule.

This thing is absolutely useless. You need to remember to turn off alarm 1 and then turn on alarm 2 every weekend, manually, or else you will be woken up early on weekends, and then if you forget on monday you won't get woken up at all. It is absolutely unfathomable they put out something so useless.
Mine lasted only a few months before eery clicking and flashing starting to occur when the alarm set off. Then, the buttons stopped working so the only way to stop the alarm was to unplug it. This morning, after my new routine of unplugging then plugging back in, the device didn’t turn back on. It is now dead.
I had reached out to Philips about this but they did not help me. Buyer beware!
Pros: beautiful design, nice alarm sounds, light was therapeutic
Cons: doesn’t work after a few months of use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It looks great and gives off excelent amount of light. And it does wake me up. But at this price point I would expect it to have a small battery in case of a power down to remember the settings. If the power goes down in the middle of the night, the alarm disappears and the clock needs to be set again. And it can't adjust it self according to summer/winter time, so you will need to change this yourself, otherwise you will get late for work. And I also expected it to have some EEPROM memory like a normal alarm clock, so you don't need set up the alarm manually every single night.
Setup instructions are less than clear. Regular digital alarm clock instructions are easier to understand than this. Have tried 2x to get it set up correctly, so far not successful. Thought I had mastered it the 2nd time but even tho set according to instructions it never came on. 1 or 2 more tries and if not successful, back it goes.
Also - the font/clarity of the alarms, time you are setting (am/pm - blurry, not much clarity) needs improvement.
Cons: the font/clarity needs improvement - very blurry, instructions not clear enough
As someone who has difficulty getting out of bed (and falling asleep) during the long dark months of winter, this product has really helped improve my sleep and mood this winter.
If I could change anything about this product, it would be to slightly illuminate the light button as it is difficult to find at night if you wish to turn the light on. There are a lot of buttons positioned around the "face" of this product, so it takes some fumbling to find the right one. Further, I was really looking forward to being awakened by birdsong... but the sound of the birds is a bit tinny and there is a kind of white noise in the background which isn't as pleasant as nature sounds.
That said, I would still strongly recommend this item to anyone who struggles with winter.
Pros: improves waking mood, sunset option really does help to fall asleep
Cons: hard to find on/off button for light, nature sounds are tinny
