I really enjoyed the lamp while it lasted, so much that I bought my daughter one too. I plugged it in when I got it and then just a couple of months later it quit working. I kept it to try to get someone to fix it. I finally checked with my daughter’s cord and it worked, so it is the cord that just went. It wasn’t like I was moving it from place to place or anything. Too expensive a light for a cheap cord, and I am having trouble replacing it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The slow sunrise feature is very gentle, and makes getting up indeed easier, especially in winter. And the sounds are also really pleasant. Not cheap, but worth it if you have a hard time waking up in the morning.
Using the buttons to set up the light is ok. The problem is when I wake in the night and want to turn on the lamp or cancel the alarm for some reason, I have to feel all around the rim to determine which buttons are which and where and occasionally press the wrong one and then fumble to turn off whatever function I turned on and fumble again to find the right button.
I really like this alarm clock. I have had it for a few years and was happy with it. Unfortunately, it started to act up. The second alarm button isn't working anymore. I don't know what happened. But when I want to use the 2. alarm other things turn on like the light or the radio. It changes. So now I'm quite disappointed since considering the price I was hoping it would last longer than a few years.
Pros: dimming screen at night, reducing the sunrise to 20 min before set time, 2 alarm buttons
Cons: buttons not working properly after a few years, too expensive if just working for a few years

I'm light sleeper and pretty sensitive to sounds and this has created a lot of animosity between myself and various alarm clock solutions. After years and years of waking up with a jolt every day no matter the sound settings, I heard about light based alarms. The technology makes sense as, when I sleep outside, I'll wake up at around 6am feeling ready to go. I then did some research on light-based alarms. My goal in researching products is to find three reviewers who all list a single product as their number one. In this case the search was over quickly, they all agreed on this alarm. Several weeks after purchasing, I find it to wake me reliably and without that jolt of reaction to sudden noise. Great product.
Pros: effective when callibrated correctly, much more gentle than a traditional alarm, easy to use, sunset simulation is surprisingly soothing
Cons: exists solely for the purpose of waking you up
