This is my 2nd Napoleon and they made it even better. Direct plug in is much better than the old battery pack. Great, consistent cooking and terrific lighting. Unfortunately, I built in the old grill and had to leave it when we moved.
I've had this grill for about a year now, and just haven't thought to write a review until now. The quality and features are just wonderful, and it's the most versatile grill I've owned. Here's what I love. First, the side infra-red burner is instant...0-1800 degrees in 30 seconds. I use it for searing, doing steaks...and it's perfect for breakfast sausage (don't have to heat up the entire grill). Second, the main burners ignition system is far superior to the click-click-click Micky Mouse approach used by other manufacturers. It creates a mechanical spark combined with a jet-stream of gas to ignite. Next, I love the rotisserie with an infrared rear burners. Turkeys, ducks, chickens, roasts...it's awesome. I also purchased a smoker box, but it didn't seem to create much smoky flavor...so then I bought a second smoker box and use them both simultaneously (siting on top of the outside burners on the left and right), and bingo! Wonderful smoke flavor. Finally, what's fun having people come over and hear them comment on the grill...the way it looks (the lights are amazing) and performs. Lots of "wow, I've not seen Napoleons around much, but that's what I'm going to get next time!" So far, I've had 5 friends purchase Napoleon's once they saw mine in action. Finally, the warranty is best in class, which is reassuring since they wouldn't offer the best warranty if they didn't offer the best quality and durability.
This is a really, really good grill! Love, love, love the infrared sear functionality and internal lighting that makes evening grilling SO much easier. I was especially grateful for being able to speak with knowledgable carbon-based life forms who were able to resolve a couple of set-up questions. These are people that know and care about great grilling!
It has significantly improved the quality of my life! So what would move my rating from a 4 to a 5? Just a couple of tiny nits in the spirit of continuous improvement:
1. The trim rings around each of the burner knobs are easily separated from their anchors. A tighter fit of better glue would prevent this.
2. I have to keep a close eye on rotisserie chickens. The mounts for the motor have a tendency to flex. This can lead to a chicken that isn't rotating. Beefier motor mounts might help.
Take a bow for a job well done with this product. It is delivering great results 3-5 times a week.
