Wife and I bought a Flip 2 when it was the newest model. For years it was an awesome and loud little speaker. Recently we decided it was time to upgrade and get a new one with charging capabilities. We went with the JBL Charge 4 as we loved out JBL Flip 2. Overall, the speaker is great. Long play life, durability, charge capabilities. However, what we did notice is that the sound quality is not as good as our Flip 2. It doesn't get as loud and the sound is not as crisp as we are used to with JBL. When buying a speaker, sound quality is what we are after. I would easily sacrifice the good points of this speaker for the better sound quality. However, with all that said, the speaker is still really good considering its price tag. Most people wouldn't even notice if they haven't had earlier versions of the JBL brand.
I bought this product and was stoked to turn it on and was quickly dismayed that the charging cable that came with it had a gash through it clear to the inner wires. But not only that, the chord would not fit correctly into the speaker's port and would wiggle around.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great speaker, awesome battery life, and superb sound. Definitely an upgrade from my charge 2+. Would rate it a 4.5 out of 5 though since there is no AC adapter for charging, luckily my charger from my 2+ works.
I like to hike, go to the beach, camp, fish, and do much more outside. This speaker is excellent for all of this. Not too loud and obnoxious, but plenty of power to provide good sound. My friends and I have paired 4 of these together while camping and surrounded the bonfire area. Wherever you went the music followed. Highly recommend it.
