I was looking for a small Bluetooth ready wireless speaker for my bedroom to play music from my laptop. I just bought one from Sony for the living room but it was a little too big for my bedroom so JBL CHARGE 4 was just right.
To pair it with my Sony laptop was easy, along with my iPad and iPhone. Once it’s paired the speaker will stay in your device’s list of Bluetooth items so you don’t have to do it again. You just have to remember to connect or select it in your preferred device and don’t forget to turn on the power first. When i first tried to pair it I only hit the Bluetooth button but you have to hit power first. On Sony’s you hit the Bluetooth and it turns it on automatically.
I’m playing music from iTunes and so that program has an equalizer on it so you can customize the song to your liking. I did download the apps like JBL CONNECT but it only has a volume button and options to connect other speakers, for parties and surround sound. I’m not sure if there are other apps available from JBL that have an equalizer as well as volume settings, but there are some other ones available. If there is maybe JBL can comment on my review and tell me the name of it, but for now iTUNES works for me.
That’s the only reason I didn’t give 5-stars. The volume is adequate, but I’m not playing it really loud, and the compact design is great to place in my overly crowded room. It’s also lightweight. I’ve only charged it for about an hour and a half, the last light was still blinking before I started to use it. And I’ve listened to about 4-5 hours maybe a bit longer yesterday and it’s still going strong.
Great sound from a small device. The app that is recommended is not worth dealing with but there are many apps out there where you can customize your sound.
