I have this speaker for a week and everything is working very well. The sound is perfect compared to my car audio speakers, so I take it everywhere with me to listen to and listening while driving as well.
I bought this because for a portable speaker it gets to the low tones, it still has a headphone in jack, and it has a battery bank built in to charge other devices. I do not love that it is a single speaker arrangement when predecessors have had drivers on both sides of the cylinder, but the sound is fantastic and it doesn’t “shrill” out and crackle at higher volumes like some other Ultimate speakers do. the sound is bass heavy comparatively to other mid-size portables, and its sound Has a vocal forward property that makes it great as an auxiliary speaker for listening to everything from conference calls (vs. terrible corporate headphones), to movies on a portable display. It is a fantastic small around product. Dry JBL, so if you love their sound, you’ll love this.
I’ve owned JBL car audio in the past and own a Flip 4 so I know the quality I was getting with my Charge 4...sounds amazing and people that hear it always say how mint it sounds. Plenty loud enough for my back yard!!
I purchased the Charge 4 for my husband after he kept using my nieces Flip 3. She told me the sound on the Charge 4 would be better so he got the newer version. I linked both speakers together and the sound quality is about the same. The Charge has the capability to charge your phone while in use and that is a bonus but it's not really worth the extra coins in my opinion. The Charge is larger which is ok, but I like the portability of the Flip. The Flip has more bass for its size, the Charge is lacking in bass. Overall both are great options!
