Can't handle rain. This has to be the worst Coleman product I've ever purchased. Hopefully not a sign of things to come bc I love me some Coleman but the quality of the materials used in this tent just dont keep the water out.
The only positive things about this tent is the fact that it's very easy to put up. Too bad you can only use it when it's guaranteed to not rain.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Light rain for less than 2 hours and it was leaking every where.. on the seams and walls. Dripping on our faces!

Hi Lisa2021, thank you for sharing your experience with our Coleman 4-person cabin camping tent with instant setup. We appreciate you bringing this up to our attention we understand that this is not what you expect from Coleman. Upon checking the details of the tent, we found out that it is designed to have a rainfly for extra protection from rain. The rainfly for this tent model is being sold separately. The rainfly accessory part number is 2000010327 which can be purchase from our partner retailers.
I've used this tent a bunch. Thought it was great for car camping. The people I camp with are always jealous of how quick and easy setup and breakdown are. I'm 5'6 and can just about stand up in the middle, so that's great too.
What prompted this review, however is the supposed "weather tech". My last camping trip saw a bit of rain and as soon as the tent fabric was saturated the water began to go right through. Totally ruined the last night, actually cut the trip short a day because everything on the tent was soaked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for posting a review. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we are sorry that our 4-Person Cabin Camping Tent with Instant Setup didn't meet your expectations. This is not the experience that we want you to have. Waterproofing a tent usually becomes necessary after a few years of using it. If your tent is new and has not been exposed to a lot of UV rays, you should not have to water proof it.
Should you have any question regarding the warranty or would like to obtain warranty service, please visit Coleman website, click on the headphone logo on the upper right corner, choose contact us and you will be routed to our contact form.
I've used this tent twice in the rain and my tent became a pond. The first time I did not seal the tent with a water proofer because of the weather tech rating. The second time I sealed the tent and mad sure to coat the seams. My tent still flooded. I hate this tent. Not worth the money.

Do you need to waterproof a new tent? You need to waterproof your new tent if you want assurance that you will stay dry if you happen to get caught in the rain on your camping trip. Waterproofing your tent not only keeps you dry, but it helps improve your tent's life by minimizing UV damage and water damage.

I've had my first Coleman Instant 4 person tent since 2016 and use it constantly. And I mean CONSTANTLY I am camping at minimum once a month typically every other weekend. The tent is actually still in perfect conditioned and very well seasoned at this point. The only point of failure has been the small plastic bits at the bottom of the tent rods with connect the tent rod to the loop used to hammer steaks into the ground. They include holes which make you think you should put the steak through it but DONT. I highly recommend only using the canvas loops to slam the steaks through. I believe the only reason this part broke on me is because I hammed my steaks through these holes in below freezing weather.
I e-mailed Coleman support about this issue and they were extremely quick to reply with a very quality outcome. I sincerely appreciate this kind of support which has driven me to leave a review on a product I've been using monthly for 6 years now.
It's not always about the product but a large part about the support and company that backs their products. I will continue to purchase many many coleman products because they get the job done and the few occasions they don't they an amazing support network to resolve any issue you're having.
I love this tent. Been using it for a few years now. I actually picked it up at a garage sale! Using the rainfly and all tie outs, I have never had a problem with wind or weather.
