Quiet, quiet, quiet. I’m not sure why people think this is a loud a/c. We had it on one day so far - Arizona in February- and it cooled down our small living room sufficiently. So far, so good.

It cools the room fine but makes a rattle noise. Think when compressor is on. So not as quiet as I expected. The midea brand ac I have is quieter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If the air conditioner is making a rattling noise, there are several things you can check:
*The front grille may be loose or broken. Remove the grille and inspect it to confirm it is not broken. If it isn't, reinstall the grille. The instructions for removing and reinstalling the grille is in the Owner's Manual. Here is the link:

*Check and clean the air filter. Debris and dirt from the exterior of the air conditioner should be removed.
*The movable louvers are loose or broken. On some models, you can check and adjust the louvers. Consult your Owner's Manual for instructions.
*With window units, improper installation can cause vibration in the window sill. Check the Installation Instructions for proper installation guidelines.

It's about time someone reimagined the window AC. GE did just that. This unit is amazing, it only takes up about 4 in of window. The unit is super quiet and chills the room. Love the look.

Let the buyer beware!

We purchased 2 of these air conditioners in different sizes. One was defective right out of the box. GE deemed it not repairable, & we received a replacement 3 weeks ago. Meanwhile, the larger unit started making a horrible noise (I have a video but am not sure it will upload to this review) on “cool” setting. On “quiet”, it rumbles so much we can feel the vibration on both couches in the room. Last night, the 3-week old replacement unit also started to rumble. It woke me up at 3a.m., and I had to turn it off to be able to sleep. We were excited about the design of these, but I’m starting to hate them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wanted to love this AC, as I had done hours of research before purchasing, but am disappointed. Followed the recommended sizing guide and system seems too small for our space (bonus room above garage). Makes intermittent rattling noise and freezes up in very humid weather. Beautiful for window AC, but not functioning as advertised.

Super quiet and cold!

This GE air conditioner is the quietest unit ive. Ever had. It cools several rooms in my home and we have it on quite a lot during this summer. The unit was a little heavy, but installation was super easy due to the upside down u shape design. Its actually a bit easier to set up than the traditional ac unit, but youll need 2 people to lift it safely.
