My problem with other blenders was that they didn't blend completely; the end result would inevitably have specks or even chunks of individual ingredients. That's a problem with smoothies. Want to use kale? Better be prepared for green specks. The Blendtec eliminates this problem. It literally pulverizes everything you put in it. No green kale specks, no bits of blueberry; everything is blended to a completely smooth consistency. My favorite purchase all year.

This product was given to me as a gift, but if I knew what its potential was I would have already owned one. I am a true believer in investing into a product rather than just purchasing a product, cost having little to do with this. This machine is a tad bit louder than most but has done everything I've thrown at it where as most others would need to be replaced after such abuse. Very easy to use, very easy to clean, and seems to have very durable motor and seals. Thus I would recommend this product as an Investment over a normal purchase.

This is the second blendtec that we have owned. We had difficulties with our previous one. The jar bearing for the blade kept burning up, necessitating replacement. Seems this new Blendtec - Total Blender has a redesigned bearing that seems to be much more durable.
