I've been a Black Silk consumer for at least 10 years. The past couple of cans have been lame, gone is the strength and depth of flavor that made me a fan through the years. And the cans keep getting smaller and more expensive! What the heck is going on here?
I love this variety all year round, but I never liked iced coffee until trying it with Black Silk. I soon found I also like to make coffee floats using it. I have tried several of the Folger's flavors, both regular and decaf. This is my favorite by far, and when compared to other brands, including some gourmet types, and there is only two, that I like anywhere near as much as this- one puts out a Columbian in a small can and the other is imported- when available- and is usually shockingly expensive, so not having that anymore! However, the smooth, strong but not bitter flavor of black silk leaves me not even missing the others one bit. I am recently seeing a lot of people saying it has changed recently- I just finished my last container and need to get more- I sure HOPE it has not changed!! If it has, I will edit or post new review.
I was in the Navy over 50 years ago, and we drank whatever while on watch. For the last 50 years, I've just grabbed a cup of coffee while at work in the morning. I retired a few years ago, and have been sampling (10oz containers) coffee from the grocery story trying to find a good variety to settle on. I had pretty much decided to settled on Yuban - just the regular offering - nothing special. However, yesterday in the grocery store I decided to pickup your Black Silk (been looking at it for at least a year, but the smallest container was a bit too large for a sample) - a 1lb+ container was the smallest available to try. For the first time in years, I made myself a second cup of coffee (12oz) - I never drink 2 cups of coffee unless at a restaurant. I've found what I have been looking for - dark, black - no cream or sugar, just straight black (2 Tbl spoons with 12 oz of boiling water, drip filter), no acid, no bitter after taste, just a really good very smooth cup of black coffee. Very enjoyable. My search is over - Black Silk from now on. I don't even know what I paid for it - it doesn't matter.
The taste has completely changed. Weaker flavor, to the point we use more grounds. Then the price is astronomical, so we can't afford to buy this anymore. This use to be our favorite coffee. Now I wouldn't recommend.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear about your experience as the weak taste you described certainly does not meet our quality expectations either. I have been drinking this since it came out! I been HOOKED ever since. I will not buy anything else P E R I O D !! I will wake up in the middle of the night and put some Folgers in my cup!
I can’t tell you how long I’ve been purchasing Folgers Black Silk ground coffee and these last 2 containers I have opened taste awful, so weak. I can even tell by the color when I’m pouring my cup or adding cream. Has there been a change in the making of this coffee?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love Black Silk coffee but now I am a bit confused by the taste difference in the beans are they the same? The past couple of months I (we) have noticed that something is off there is a bitter taste difference to the coffee and Black Silk definitely doesn’t have that. It also seems other notes are off ~ are you changing the something?
