Still waiting for a repair technician

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this freezer a month ago... and it was on backorder. So, I waited a month for delivery. On day 1 we heard a humming and buzzing noise from the unit once it was plugged in. We figured it was just warming up and would quiet itself down after the unit was chilled. Nope. It's been perpetually getting louder with each passing day and we're still waiting for the service technician to arrive. The earliest appointment they had was a week out from the request date. And it's at the point where I plugged my old freezer back in because I'm fearful this one will fail soon.
If you read that last sentence, you'll notice I kept my old freezer. I only replaced the old, working, 100% functional Whirlpool freezer because the company decided to redesign these built-in units with new door handles... which are larger, mounted higher, and shaped differently. So my fridge/freezer pair no longer match! They could have easily created a new door handle shape that fit the old location and I would have only been forced to upgrade my freezer door handle when the original fridge died. But nope, they wanted to force me into buying both units again.
Which has caused Whirlpool to lose any repeat business from me. Your short-sightedness is astounding... and why would you send me a link to create a review when you know my new unit is not functioning normally? Your business practices seem to need some revamping.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect Fit For Older Home Replacement

What we didn’t care about was the fact that in today’s day and age the stainless steel should be finger print resistant. Also, the add on ice maker is something most people would want and should be included in the factory shipped unit.

New Freezer never froze and we lost food

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered freezer arrived after 4 weeks of waiting and never froze. We lost a freezer full of food with no warranty for lost food unless we purchased the extended warranty. IT WAS A BRAND NEW FREEZER JUST INSTALLED AND IT NEVER WORKED! Numerous phone calls to Whirlpool resulted in no a loop hole of only being able to get an extended warranty extension and then I was told to contact the seller that sold me the warranty. Had to wait another 2 weeks to get another replacement freezer and fortunately it works fine.

Prefer the older 2004 models

Disappointed in the modifications to both 30" Sidekick freezer and fridge vs the older model from 2004 or there about. The older model was well made with split adjustable shelves almost the length of the door for both freezer and fridge. Love the glass shelves and the fact that this still has the split adjustable sheves, but there are fewer. That flat wire box holder at the bottom of the freezer door is not useful to us yet because we are not a frozen pizza family. Have to figure out another use. This product was far superior to others in the same size range before in design and reliability and is now average with poor ratings for reliability. Hope Whirlpool will listen to your former customers.
