Good concept, poor execution

First of all, I love the hyper products. They work fine and look great.
With this products they missed the ball though. The magnetic strip is an useless gimmick that will only put your macbook at risk. If you or someone in your environment attempts to close the lid of your macbook whilst the magnetic strip is still attached, it will break your screen even when applying low force due to the strip acting as a lever.
I personally no longer use the strip, but due to the extended usb connectors, the hub doesn’t fit all the way inside the two usb ports. This makes it even more fragile than older models.
I expressed my concerns multiple times over the past few months to the support team, hoping the product would be revisioned and removed from the site, but never got an update.

I have not testet all functionalitys right now, but in general it works. The deign is really nice and with quality material. What I do not understand is the magnetic plasti clip. With it connected it is not possible to close the mac (M1 Mac 2020). Also a little bit more support (maybe 4 rubber feeds) below the doc would be great. Now there is space below the doc and the desk, so all energy, that comes from connected cables or when I am with my hand on it (when phushing ESC, ...) goes into the the USB-ports.

When my wife bought her MacBook Pro for work about 2 years ago she was left wondering how she could connect USB devices she already owned with the lack of the clunky USB-A port. I did some quick research and bought her a "HyperDrive" from the big BLUE electronics store. She LOVES it! I needed to upgrade my hardware because I'm back to doing some minor work for her. I got a MacBook Pro 13" 2020 model year and when I bought it from the same big BLUE electronics store I purchased the latest HyperDrive dock to use with my system. I love the fit and finish of the new model but it has one GLARING defect which is making me consider looking for a different brand. The "MAGNETIC" support, which really adds to the stability, prevents the lid from closing completely. I tried removing the piece to solve the problem but then the hub doesn't flush up against the. laptop case and it is very unstable. I tried turning the piece over and the hub won't plug in at all. I know this sounds petty but when you pay for premium equipment you expect premium performance. The hub performs beautifully but having to unplug it every time I need to move my laptop creates a potential of damaging the USB-C ports.

Mostly Good

The adapter looks great and sits well against the design of my new MacBook Pro.
Mostly works well, the only draw backs are it can be fiddly to attach. I find the ports generally quite stiff, but the USB-A's take a serious amount of force to remove.
The HDMI connection often doesn't register with the laptop when it's been removed.

Garbage

I got this new model with the magnetic grip because the previous one didn't cling well enough to the mac and would disconnect very easily. The new one doesn't improve this at all! The magnetic grip actually only clings to the adapter itself, but not to the side of the mac, behaving no differently than a piece of plastic. Also, the cables you plug in cling more tightly to the hub than the hub does to the mac, so every time I try to disconnect a cable, it pulls the whole thing out unless I hold it in very tightly with the other hand. There may be an extension cable to connect the hub indirectly, but if I'm going to just connect it with a cable, there are other way cheaper hubs with more USB ports that do the trick. I just wanted a hub that attaches directly to my mac. I'm very confused by how all the other reviews are great and am wondering whether I'm doing something wrong.
