Underwhelming performance and extra hot

I got this production because most of my dongles connect to thunderbolt 2 (same shape as minidisplay port) and while I can get video out to 1080x1920 monitor with a mini display port to display port cable, this dongle doesn't send a display signal to my monitor when I attach a 2k display to the HDMI port. It appears to prioritize the HDMI port, so while I wanted to use just this dongle to connect everything, I've had to compromise.
This may be unrelated, but the product gets extremely hot. Even when the only thing connected is a USB mouse and keyboard, I can't touch the aluminum housing with my bear skin. If you purchase this, just make sure you don't plan on moving it often.
Looked great, lots of ports to make up for my Jobsian MacBook with -> 1 <- port. I returned home today to find my MacBook battery almost completely discharged. Problems with ethernet and HDMI. And did I say this was the replacement (that I haven't used for months) that Hyper sent me (after they said my first purchased seemed OK to them).
I bought 3 of these at one time, 2 have already had to be replaced, and now after using them for a while and with the help of Netgear, Linksys, & Western Digital, I have learned that these hubs actually interfere with my network IP address. At my home office, it blocks my Cloud Drie from accessing the network unless the Hyperlink hub is also connected to a computer on the same network. At my office, it has the same negative behavior and blocks my VOIP phone in the same way. So when I unplug my computer from either environment other devices on the network fail to connect even though they aren't even connected in any way directly to the Hyperlink hub. I have 8-12 hours of troubleshooting to resolve theses issues and the solution was so easy...get a better quality USBC hub
Frustrating that the USB ports are so close together -- hard to use a USB plug and card reader at the same time, unless you have the right combination. Power cord to computer is short, limiting options for positioning. Lastly, heats up with use.
Loved the adapter, so many ports. But the flexibility of the single USB-C cable became an issue, particularly where the cable meets the adapter. With daily use, connectivity was not consistent after 1.5 years. Monitor connection bounces in and out. The USB port started acting up; lost the USB port connection during an OS upgrade and it set me back a few hours fixing the problem. Seems like it should have lasted longer for the price. I'm opting for something more sturdy next time. Lesson learned. Still a good adapter, but you'll need to be gentle with it to make it last.
Adapter Model: GN30B Computer: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018)
Worked great...for a few weeks, then the monitor stopped being recognized using the adaptor. Works OK on the other computer with a different adaptor, so not sure what happened there. USB works, it gets warm when running power through it.
