Hi there - the Ultra Open Earbuds won't quite match the volume of traditional earbuds that sit directly in the ear canal, but will still supply enough volume for you to enjoy your music. As for phone calls, Bose recently released a firmware update (4.0.22) to improve the customer's call experience. Try installing the latest firmware and see if that helps. Great earbuds

I bought these 2 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier with them. I use them at work in a lab. I am able to listen to music while still communicating with my coworkers. I also really like these earbuds because I have small earbuds and other earbuds hurt my ears but these don’t since they don’t go all the way into my ear.

These are excellent for the gym, unlike other pro version earbuds that fall out while I’m working out all the time, constantly having to readjust and get the music back on. These haven’t fallen off or out once. I’m not wasting gym and commute time by having to fidget with the proper fitting, these stay put. I wish I had bought these Ultra Opens earlier.
