I bought the bag and a couple of cubes primarily for photography. I almost never use it for that.
The companion packing cubes are a magnicent pain in the rear to attach inside the bag using the supplied c-clips, hence I almost never use it.
The idea is that the camera is easily accessible from the cube via one of the side flaps. Great idea in theory but almost completely impractical in realty.
Speaking of the camera cube, I have not been able to find an arrangement that suits my kit nicely despite the plethora of velcro dividers supplied (Nikon D7000 plus 2 lenses).
Using the camera cube as a built-in to the bag requires you to fold the top of the cube back around the cube, but the system is clumsy at best.
The zippers on the internal mesh divider are small and very hard to manage, inhibiting easy access to the body of the bag. Most of tge time I leave the mesh divider rolled up in the bottom of the bag. Again, clumsy.
And last, the button snaps at the top for shrinking the bag are extremely hard to snap. But that's okay because they come unsnapped almost immediately - useless.
Despite all the above, I like the bag and use it often for air travel ... just not for its intended purpose.
I bought the bag and companion camera cube despite its very high price because I admire clever design. But in this case, I think Peak Design was being too clever by half.

I bought this bag about 2 months ago and have been incredibly happy with the purchase. The bag is versatile with features that work for just about any use. I'm primarily using the bag for work travel (typically 2-4 nights away from home). It's perfect for packing clothes, laptop, and other necessities. I never have an issue getting overhead space for it, and it also fits easily under airplane seats in a pinch. Also, the YouTube video to show the bag's features was very helpful to get up to speed quickly.

LOOKING FOR A CARRY ON BACKPACK,THIS IS THE WINNER

THIS BAG is spacious! I love how it opens wide like a suitecase. If your looking for a carry on size bag for flexible 1-3 week travel, pick this one. I am an avid user of my roller 4 wheel hard shell carry on suitcase, but the suitcase is not the ideal travel bag for crowed city, older cities with out elevators, and snowy or rain terrain. I'm a petite person, so a smaller version would work a little better. I bout this bag to clip my camera on it, it works great. The chest strap is a little tough to toggle compared to the click in version. But I like the material.

The only bag I take

Several years ago I was traveling abroad and my checked baggage was lost in transit. I was stranded in a foreign country for almost a week with just the clothes on my back. This bag came up on kickstarter shortly after and I have not had to check my luggage at all ever since. The peace of mind that the tools I bring with me on my travels will stay with me on my travels make this immediately worth it. The build quality, ease of access to every element, the organization that the cubes add in make this honestly the best bag I've ever owned. I've never thought, I wish this bag had 'x' because it already does. The handle on every side in particular makes me smile when I'm hauling my bag around the city and can maneuver this bag comfortably in any situation or position.

We bought 2 of these backpack for our trip to Bali after watching the hilarious video. I now travel with this backpack for weekly work trips. I love how it collapses down so I can use it for a computer bag instead of taken luggage and a separate computer bag for work trips.

The Peak Design Travel Backpack is an exceptional travel companion with a 45L capacity. It is spacious and easy to organize with thoughtful compartments and pockets that make packing and unpacking a breeze. The backpack is also comfortable to wear with adjustable straps that distribute weight evenly across the back. The quality of the materials and construction is evident and gives a sense of durability and longevity. Overall, I highly recommend this backpack for anyone who wants a reliable and functional travel companion.
