I selected this model because it seemed to comfortable was rated (by Staples) as being good for extended periods of time and it seemed to be of a similar design to a much more expensive Tempurpedic model that was also at my local Staples. Overall it's not as comfortable for sitting in for long periods of time as the 15 yr old worn out chair it was bought to replace. It was a decent buy I think it was on sale for $129 ($100 off) when I purchased it but in retrospect I would opt for something else even if was more money. Pros - Easy to assemble. Very clear instructions and well designed packing for various parts. Lightweight and easy to maneuver Easy to adjust height etc. Cons - Headrest completely useless if you are tall as it is not height adjustable. I ended up removing it because it was rubbing on my shoulder blades and was very irritating. Poor lumbar support as the lumbar insert behind the back mesh of the chair is difficult to adjust and does not have a wide range of vertical movement.
Finally a well made chair designed to offer lower back support and ease of adjustment. You can truly adjust the chair to your own personal taste and all parts screw into solid materials so it should last a long time. The adjustable lumbar pad is a nice feature too allowing you to put the bump where you like it. In all I am very pleased so far with my chair and it was very reasonably priced.
We recently purchased the Staples Hyken Technical Mesk Task Chair...and what a chair it is! We were replacing a chair purchased years ago at Staples which served us well...good support and all but simply became a little tattored. Well in comes our new chair and comfort and support beats the heck out of the old chair. With recent back surgery this chair gives excellent lower back support which is super important these days. Really like the mesh feel and adjustability of arms and heigth along with the neck and head support. And it should be noted goes together easy right out of the box...no problems. I highly recommend this chair.
I've been shopping around for several months for a good office chair. My back and neck are very temperamental due to old injuries and trying to find a chair that will work for me has been challenging. I spend about 6 hours in front of a computer although that can edge up to 10+ if I'm working on a big project. To date I've tried the Herman Miller Aeron Mirra 2 and Embody chairs. However at $790-$1350 for a chair it had better be absolutely perfect. The Mirra 2 came the closest but while my back felt wonderful my neck was killing me by the end of the third day. So I reasoned that if even the "best" chairs on the market wouldn't work I could go with a chair that would mostly work and put the difference in cost towards more chiropractic visits. Enter the Hyken. Assembly was fairly straightforward despite poor quality control and I got it together enough to test. Mesh back is good but it's too stiff in the seat and the seat edge digs into your legs. I'm 5'6" and lightweight so if it's digging into me I can only imagine what it will be like for anybody bigger. Second while the tilt lock is fine the seat itself doesn't move at all. It doesn't shift tilt or give at all. You can move it up and down for height but nothing else. It's like sitting on a wooden bench all day and it's awful! Wouldn't recommend this for anything but light casual use and even then I'd pick something else.
I purchased this office chair after finally realizing what had been causing issues with other office chairs. Many office chairs connect the seat with the seat back so when you lean back both sections lean. The problem with this is that the front of the chair seat cuts into the back of your leg causing your leg from the knee down to experience the pins and needles sensation. This prevents lengthy sessions on the phone or at your computer. This office chair has the reclining mechanism between the seat and the back so this problem doesn't exist. In addition the mesh seat and back allows your body to breathe unlike the leather chair this replaced.
This chair is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. The head rest is soft and in the right place. The back of the chair has a brace for the back in just the right spot. I would recommend this chair very highly. The salesman told me to try it out and I looked at him as if to say this doesn't look comfortable when I sat in it I could not believe how comfortable it was. Any person with back problems should get this chair it is a great support when sitting in it. The design of this chair is unbeatable.
