[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being 6’4” and 250 lbs., I have tried more office chairs than I’d like to admit, often struggling to find one that felt like it was made for me. For me, the Hyken XL made a strong first impression. From the moment I sat on it, I felt it was significantly more accommodating than the “standard-sized” office chair I hoped it would replace. The extra width and reinforced base gives it a solid, sturdy feel that does not leave me wondering if it is going to break. The layered foam seat with coil springs is noticeably more comfortable than a thin cushion, and the mesh back helps keep my back feeling ventilated, which is a big deal as I run hot. As someone that spends almost 40 hours a week sitting at my desk, comfort is key and this chair hits the nail on the head.
Once you look past the initial comfort you experience when you first sit on the chair, you quickly realize how extremely adjustable the chair is. It allows for adjustments to the seat height/depth, lumbar support, arm rests, head rest, and the tilt/recline tension (essentially allowing you to set how far your chair goes back). In practice I was able to set the seat depth to give me enough thigh support without the front edge digging into the back of my knees, raise the back height so my upper back and shoulders felt supported and not “hanging” off the back of the chair, adjust the lumbar to support my lower back comfortably, and use the armrests at a comfortable height relative to my desk and height. The recline works well for leaning back for thought or reading, and locking it for forward working upright, when needed. The headrest is an added comfort item that I never thought about needing but now cannot see myself living without. The ergonomics of the chair are really satisfying, and what I like most about the Hyken XL!
Visually, the chair is quite clean and modern: a black mesh back, dark fabric seat, a chrome-toned base and a robust build. It doesn’t scream “budget office chair,” but it also doesn’t try to look like high-luxury executive furniture which is fine as in my experience, the fancier a piece of furniture looks, the less comfortable it is. Overall I was happy with the look and feel of the chair.
In the end, as a tall person who spends a lot of time at a desk, this chair finally felt like one of the few that “fits” rather than “just tolerates” my build and I am very happy with it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Comfortable chair with lots of adjustability! The assembly of the chair was quick and simple. There are so many ways to adjust the chair to get a perfect fit and this chair is LARGE with the ability to adjust the seat deeper and the arms wider. Even at 6’ 3” and 300 lbs I still felt somewhat small for the chair. The design is simple and modern so fits in well in an office space. My only real complaint is that even at the lowest height setting the chair is just slightly too tall for my home office desk.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being tall kinda sucks. Especially when buying a desk chair. They’re never tall enough or sturdy enough. So, when I first saw the Staples Hyken XL Ergonomic Fabric Swivel Big & Tall Chair, my first thought was, “Here we go again. A store brand desk chair that I’ll white knuckle every time I sit in it until it falls apart in a few weeks.” The look of the chair is pretty standard. What you’d expect to get at a new office job. However, the open back is a nice touch and prevents getting too hot while working. The wheels move around floors smoothly.
As I gained more experience with the chair, my opinion changed, starting with assembly. Just about every desk chair I’ve ever assembled has at least one screw, whether it’s the threading, or positioning of other parts, that goes in a little wonky. Everything fit together perfectly.
With a lot of chairs, I stress over finding the perfect setting so that I never have to battle the buttons levers again. These controls are intuitive and easy to find.
Overall, this chair is great. It doesn’t stand out visually, but it’s a solid build that is comfortable and easy to adjust.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only just assembled the chair so haven't had a full work day to test it out yet, but so far it seems great! Adjustable lumbar support, headrest, armrests, and seat, including the ability to adjust the distance between the seat and the back, made it easy to get the perfect fit for a 6'4" frame.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really impressed by this chair, easy to put together, attractive and, most importantly, both comfortable and supportive. I’ve bought far more expensive office chairs before that were much less comfortable. As someone who’s 6ft5 and 220lbs, most office chairs don’t go high enough, my thighs won’t be perpendicular to the ground, the lumbar support will be too low etc. but this was excellent in that regard. I’ve only had it for a few weeks but so far this has been a significant upgrade and, given that I work from home so spend 8-9 hours a day in it, I’m a very happy customer.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Staples Hyken XL Ergonomic Fabric Swivel Big & Tall Chair for several weeks, and it’s quickly become one of the most comfortable office chairs I’ve owned. The larger frame offers great support without feeling bulky, and the breathable fabric keeps me cool even during long work sessions.
Adjusting the chair to fit my body was simple — the tilt tension, lumbar support, and armrests are all easy to fine-tune. I really appreciate how solid and stable it feels, especially when leaning back or swiveling.
The overall look is sleek and professional, blending perfectly with my home office setup. The fabric gives it a premium feel while still being practical for everyday use.
What I like most is how balanced it feels — supportive enough for long hours, yet soft and flexible enough to stay comfortable throughout the day. It’s a great choice for anyone who needs extra space and strong ergonomic support.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m really enjoying the Staples Hyken XL Ergonomic Fabric Swivel Big & Tall Chair. As someone who’s over 6'4", it’s a perfect fit! The seat cushion is very comfortable, and the lumbar support is excellent—fully adjustable to suit your needs. The headrest is a great addition. This is my first desk chair with a headrest, and I find it both comfortable and positioned at the right height to actually rest my head. The adjustable armrests work best for me at their maximum height, so there’s limited flexibility there. However, the wide design of the armrests is a major upgrade from my previous chair—definitely a plus. My only negative experience was with the setup process:
The instructions were placed at the bottom of the box, which meant I had to unpack everything before I could even begin. Some screws weren’t packaged in the correct compartments, so I had to sort them by size manually. Assembly is really a two-person job. I managed about 75% on my own but needed help toward the end to hold and position parts correctly.
Overall, I’m very happy with this chair. It’s comfortable, supportive, and well-suited for taller individuals.
The only thing I don't like about this chair is the arms rotating. The up and down and forward and back lock, the rotating does not. I am constantly moving them accidentally. Other than that it is very comfortable.
