I have have a Vitamix 5200 for maybe 20 years. I realized it wasn't working as well as it once did so we decided to replace it. We basically use it for smoothies using essentially the same ingredients as we always have for many years. Sadly, the new 5200 doesn't work nearly as well as the old one. About once a week I have go dig out the base unit from the garage to finish our breakfast because the new one once again shuts down. There is no way this unit could make ice cream or anything else remotely heavy duty like the old one could when it was new. Very disappointed in this product.

Hi, we are sorry to hear of your experience. Please know that the newer units have a more sensitive thermal protection system to protect the motor and will shut off when they get too warm. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. If you have tried these tips and still are having an issue, please call us at 1-800-848-2649, so we can further assist.
Anywhere you look, this blender tops the charts as the best, and there's a reason, it simply is the best. Its got a big pricetag, but it stands up. You will be making the best smoothies, soups, butters; really the sky is the limit. There is certainly a 'best' way to load food into the blender (e.g. when to put in the milk vs when to add the frozen fruit chunks), but there are plenty of guides to help you learn the way. Say goodbye to chunky smoothies. You will not regret this purchase.
Pros: Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Power
After using the Vitamix blender for a couple of months, I’ve always heard they’re fantastic blenders! It can blend soups and smoothies like a champ, which makes it a great addition to my kitchen. Loving it!
This is my second vitamix. First one lasted 15+ years. Was still going strong until a family member threw it out in a drunken snit. I made them replace it for me, and now I have a new one.

around Vitamix. For the price they charge, I expected something exceptional. What I got was a loud, bulky machine that does the same job as blenders costing a fraction of the price. Yes, it blends — but so do many others without sounding like a jet engine in the kitchen.
Cleaning it is a pain, the size is impractical for regular countertops, and the so-called “durability” feels overstated for something this expensive. The presets are minimal, and for a product marketed as premium, the user experience feels dated.
The worst part? The value just isn’t there. You’re paying mostly for the brand name, not a noticeably better result. Unless you’re blending rocks every day, this is overkill and not worth the money.

Hi there. The machine you purchased is one of our classic models that we have been making for a very long time and is still a favorite among our customers. We do have new modern options that might be more to your liking. If you are within 60 days of purchase, we are happy to set up a return for refund so you can get one more your style.
Also the best (and easiest) method to clean your container is to add some warm water to the container, a drop of dish soap and run on high for about 1 minute. Rinse and let dry!
