This was a gift for my dear friend's daughter who is away at university and loves smoothies (so I also got the smoothie attachment). My friend shared that when she told her daughter of this gift, she was ecstatic and in disbelief!!!! I'm thinking she will love this blender as much as I love mine!
Knob is looser in these newer models. It short circuited on the first month of purchase… not sure. It’s ok so far but I LOVED my old botanic. Unfortunately it burnt down with my entire home. Shame, they don’t make them like they used to.
Pros: Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Power
So much more versatile than a regular blender! Love the manual dials - less electronic issues to worry about. Wish it had a glass container but plastic container is BPA free. Note: need dry blade for pulsing nut and seeds into flour. If you use wet blade, you will make nut butter! :-)
I usually try to make a full pitcher of protein shakes then freeze in individual portions. The Vitamix 5200 doesn’t do well with mixing an entire pitcher at one time. I use almond milk, protein powder, seeds, collagen, and hemp powder with protein. Usually have frozen fruit of some sort on top then blend. If not thick enough I will add ice. The seeds are never disbursed through the pitcher. It looks like the bottom half of the pitcher is better blended.

Hi! When blending a full pitcher like that, make sure you are using the tamper while the machine is running and the lid is securely in place. This will allow all the ingredients to get equally blended.
I have had a Vitamix 5200 for at least 10 years. I was considering purchasing a new machine as I want want one that will work with the food processor adaptor. After a lot of research and my 5200 still working great, I'm thinking (for now) I will hold off and keep using what I have. Maybe I can give this to my daughter and it will give me the excuse to buy the new Ascent!
