I am so glad that I bought the Vitamix 5200 Standard after dragging my feet for years. I owned a Blendtec and used it daily for 5 years, but after having to replace the pitcher twice I decided to go for the Vitamix. Wow, it took 2 weeks to get used to, but now I feel comfortable with using it and LOVE it! Results are smooth every time, and so very easy.
Pros: Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Product features, Power
I've had this blender for about a month and I use it daily, often more than once a day. I've mostly used it for smoothies and soups and it nails it. I like that this model isn't fussy, it's straightforward and easy to use. I'm looking forward to expanding the things I use it for!
My first Vitamix is now 16 years old, still running strong, but I wanted a spare in case it broke down. I cannot be without a Vitamix. This 5200 machine runs a bit differently than my 16 year old 5200, but it's doing an even better job of blending. I haven't had to use the tamper yet on our frozen smoothies. The machine itself is lighter as well. Can't say enough good things about Vitamix.

Grinds veggies/smoothies well but spout needs work

I own three Vitamix and missed the narrow container because I feel it grinds smoothies better as the blades have less room at the bottom. My 20 yo one was THE best of all (4 total) as the motor was super heavy duty and the canister never really 'aged'. But eventually the gears wore out:( THIS model? PROS: 1. Grinds well most everything I put in it. CONS: 1. As with most of the newer/redo models, the pour spout is far Inferior to the older models and goes over the sides when pouring a full container. For ? reasons they have changed the shape of this area. When you have a full container and try to pour it out? I have to go super slow because it will flood over the sides overflowing the 'spout' area. The old models NEVER had this problem. Too bad. 2. The container scuffs and becomes coated with ALL Vitamix's. By now you guys should have come up with a BPA FREE, better quality plastic for this! I use vinegar and baking soda in HOT water and whirl it for a long time (hot!!!) to finally get that film off. UGH.
Pros: Power

Hello. We thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We will certainly pass it along to our team. For our containers, we use Eastman Tritan a well-known, BPA-free plastic recognized for its long-lasting properties and durability. It is trusted by hundreds of companies and renowned for its performance in rigorously tested, food-safe products worldwide. We also still produce the 5200, the machine that comes with the taller container that you are used to using, we have kept that product over the years as it is still a favorite among users. If we can assist you in any additional way, please call us at 1-800-848-2649.
