I loved the laptop. Made with premium materials. Unfortunately, my unit came with power issues/a faulty charger. The laptop would shut down when I started gaming. It's a shame that this happens with laptops of this caliber. The price should be worth it.

We do understand your disappointment with this laptop and the inconvenience this may have caused if it shuts down while starting to play game. Usually, this is due to driver or software issue, ensure drivers, application, games and BIOS are up to date. Updates for this laptop are posted at: https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-g18-2025/helpdesk_download/. Ensure air ventilations are free from obstructions to have efficient air flow for better heat dissipation to prevent overheating. While gaming ensure no resource-hungry applications, services and processes are running in the background, this will spike the temperature. You can check go to Task Manager to check how high system resource utilization is being used. Furthermore, to regulate excessive heat generation, you can reconfigure your system, game, video and performance mode setting inside the newest version of the Armoury Crate utility software posted at: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/. Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

I love this system but for me it has one drawback. I do a lot of charting for trading, etc, and I wanted a powerful system so I went for a gaming system. This meets that demand for sure. The only drawback is that I am not a touch typist so being able to see the letters on the keys in required. I know this keyboard is aimed at gaming and so it has many color options available. The problem is that the QWER and ASDF keys are highlighted so much that, in the evening, if I increase the brightness of the keyboard, they drown out being able to distinguish the letters on the rest of the keyboard. If I lower the brightness, I can't see the other keys. It's extremely distracting. Great for gaming, not so much for non-gaming use.

Screen display is great, performance fast and fluid. Frankly, due to a recent eye condition I am unable to do gaming. Hopefully, my vision fully comes back I will be able to resume gaming. The keyboard features are a little confusing. The lighting is inconcistent and I don't understand why several of the key light up spontaneously and are lit differently than the others? I went with ASUS because of the reliability of my old ASUS laptop. This new laptop, althogh for gaming, was the only one that offered all the ports that I needed.
