This is my second Zojirushi breadmaker, the first version lasted me 20 years. Many improvements have been made over the years. This breadmaker is truly a marvel, making loaf after loaf of perfect bread, with all the features that you need. It is lacking a backlit display, but that's really only needed when starting the machine or determining how much time is left, so perhaps it is more reliable without it. The included recipes are okay, but there are a wealth of recipes on the web and in other cookbooks (such as the somewhat dated Electric Bread cookbooks) which turn out better than ever before. Breads have a perfect crust on all sides, thanks to the heating element in the lid.
I've only used it once and it seems to work well. I just have one major complaint. All of the preset programs and recipes call for "rapid rise yeast". Rapid yeast does not make good bread in my opinion. I never ever use it in any bread making. That means that all of the preset programs on the machine are useless to me. The "cookbook" recipes that come with it also only use rapid rise yeast making the whole cookbook useless also. The only setting I can use is the "homemade" setting where I have to blindly figure out the amounts to use in my recipe, the time to knead, the time to rise, the time for second rise, and time to bake. If you want to use normal regular yeast then Zojirushi leaves you totally in the dark and on your own about your recipe, amounts, and times. Really sucks. It will take me dozens of loaves of bread to figure out how to use this machine with regular yeast. Maybe by next year sometime I will be turning out a good loaf of bread ? The only other problem is you cant set the mix/knead time for longer than 30 minutes. I need 41 for my recipe.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We appreciate you sharing your feedback about the breadmaker. We used to design the recipes with Active Dry Yeast, but we got a lot of feedback from customers who preferred rapid-rise yeast since it's more widely available. We do have recipes with active dry yeast on our website, and if you would like, the instruction manual for the BB-PAC20 is full of recipes using active dry yeast as well. https://www.zojirushi.com/servicesupport/manuals/manual_pdf/bb_pac20.pdf
Probably the coolest machine I ever bought and glad i got this one. Reading review after review of other machines on the market. I decided this was the one, no regerts... everything that I have thrown at it has been amazing so far, sticking to recipes... the lemon loaf/cake turned out fantastic(online recipe).
Seriously, worth the money, and super essy to clean the pan and paddles...
If you are on the fence of buying one for the last 7 years like I was, just get this one... You just add your ingredients(wets first), close the lid, hit a start button and come back in 3ish hours to a freshly baked item...
The best investment anyone can ever make. I am amazed at the quality of the machine itself and everything that it is capable of doing. Will highly recommend.
