[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I like my new shaver, but have a couple of concerns. I purchased it to replaced a failing older Philips model. I thought the shave was significantly better than my old unit in its last days, but that was to be expected. It glides nicely, and now after several weeks of use, it still gives a pretty good quality shave. What I don’t like and am concerned about as the gets older is that at some shaving angles it makes a screeching sound that is highly irritating. I fear that it denotes undo wear. If this noise gets worse, I will have to stop using it. I would like Philips to replace it. From a design perspective, it looks and feels great. I don’t care for the hinged head cover and prefer the totally removable one for washing the blades that I had on my old Phillips shaver. It was just more convenient and easier to keep in good shape.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave it this rating because the shave is not as close as I’d like. I’m retired so the shave is fine for everyday use. If I was still working I would go back to a regular razor to get a closer shave. Love the attachments.
I always trust any Philips devices to deliver and this shaver is no different. Shaves great, quiet, nice wireless charging base which I also use to charge my Cell at night, It is very sturdy and heads piece is perfect. I did purchase a aftermarket head cover for when the shaver is on counter as it did not with one. Overall though very satisfied with my purchase.
Extremely disappointed with this expensive shaver.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m extremely disappointed with this expensive electric shaver. The blades are supposed to last 2 years but after using it for only 30 days, it shaved Very poorly. Every shave was worse than the previous one despite following all the cleaning instructions precisely!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there,
Thank you for writing your review and we're sorry to hear that your Philips Norelco Shaver S9000 Prestige is not giving expected results.
Here the troubleshooting tips may help you find a solution. We recommend you follow the steps in the order listed. In between steps, check to see if the issue is resolved before moving to the next. The performance of your shaver may have declined because it needs to be cleaned. There can be hair or dirt particles stuck inside it, causing the shaving heads to not function correctly. To fix this problem, properly clean your shaver. Remove the shaving heads and clean your shaver from the inside as well. For detailed cleaning instructions, refer to your user manual or view the video given in the link below. Another reason why your shaver might not be working properly is that it is not assembled correctly. For full instructions on how to reassemble your shaver, refer to your user manual or to the video given in the link below. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't think the designers of this shaver actually tried it before putting it on the market. The first thing that is incredibly inconvenient is you have to pull the head off and put on the trimer and vice versa instead of just popping up the trimmer that is incorporated into the design of the older models. The head has about a half inch of space between each of the cutting blades and the outside edge, making it very difficult to shave under your nose and estimate the closeness of the blade to your sideburns, for example. They have incorporated technology just for the sake of doing so, without thought into why the tech would be helpful. You have to, for example, clean the heads in a separate device and solution so they can make more money from you purchasing those items. It takes an entire hour to charge this, verses 15 minutes for my older shaver and both last the same amount of time. Also, you cannot continue to shave while the shaver is plugged in, and yes I get the safety factor but we are all adults. The older shaving designs are so much more compact and efficient. I do not recommend this shaver.

I've been using Norelco electric razors for over 25 years and have always liked the results, but this new 9860 is my favorite yet. It is smooth, quiet, comfortable, and really does the job. I rated it excellent because I've found nothing wrong with it and I like it.
