[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using electric razors for approximately 50 years, so I consider myself an expert. I have owned every major brand on the market and I'm very pleased to say that this Philips razor is awesome.
This product offers superior closeness, can be used wet or dry, is powered by a lithium battery (with fast charge capabilities), a one touch button to quickly open and clean the razor, a pressure guard sensor, and some other great features.
The bottom line is that this product is capable of giving you a really, really close shave with no facial irritation. To me this is what it's all about and everything else is secondary. Don't get me wrong, as the razor has great features, but I judge how well a razor shaves and the results you wind up with. The comfort level is amazing, and it did not pull my facial hair when shaving as other razors tend to do. Run times are LONG and the digital display gives you a read-out of the percentage of the remaining battery. This razor is really on the quiet side duration operation and is probably one of the quietest razors that I have used.
The product has a nice comfortable feel in your hand while using. It feels well balanced and seems very well constructed. The shaving heads float and follow the contours of my face. Shaving near my nostril openings is always a challenge as I find it difficult to shave in this area and get good results. Enter the Philips 9500 which easily handled the challenge. Shaving the hair in this area was a lot easier with less shaving passes needed to do the job.
I'm very happy with this product as it performed flawlessly and offered up nothing but the best of shaves. This by far is the best razor that I have ever used in my life. Shaves are really close and in fact I have never ever experienced a closer shave. Using it wet or dry is a real plus. Philips has a winner on its hands!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After many decades on the market, it's difficult to imagine the Norelco shaver could be improved, yet this new 9000 is a hair better than any of the perhaps 6 prior Norelcos I've owned. It's quiet, powerful, requires hardly any pressure, glides comfortably over your face with ease, and best of all, it shaves as close or closer with one or two passes than any other shaver I've ever owned. I sound like a commercial, but it's true.

For me, the Phillips are head and shoulders over all others and the S9000 Prestige is the best of the best. Only suggestion is that in the next rendition the trimmer be part of the unit rather than requiring the heads to be switched.

Simply the Best

This Norelco delivers the smoothest and closest shave of any Norelco I've ever used (and I've been using them for over 40 years). I'd like to address a few objections some men have mentioned that I find picky. First off, it has no cleaning station or cleaning pod. My answer: they're unnecessary, they take up counter space and they add unnecessary expense. I rinse it under the tap and once every few weeks I spray the cutting head with Shaver Saver. The Qi charging pad make the bag too large for travel. Given that we only travel once every year and generally not longer than two weeks, there is no need to travel with the larger case and charging pad. The shaver holds a two week charge like a champ. Besides, I love the Qi charging pad since I drop my shaver onto it after each shave and it's fully charged for the following morning. Lastly, they complain that the head must be popped off for cleaning as well as for the trimmer attachment compromising the head that is held on by plastic tabs. I have an eight year old 9721 and its head still attaches firmly after all these years; it's space age plastic, not your grandfather's plastic.
Some men are opting for the latest Prestige with the pentagonal head given that it can be used with a cleaning pod (unnecessary as mentioned) and has a flip-top assembly for easier cleaning. This newer version's advantage is immediately erased by the unwieldy pentagonally shaped head making shaving under the nose and ears awkward if not downright difficult. The only way to achieve a close shave with this head is to rotate the shaver 90 degrees requiring some dexterity given the additional need for moving the shaver in a circular motion. The older round shaving heads are far more superior and better at their job.
All told, the 9860 Prestige is simply the best Norelco available and in my opinion the best electric shaver including foil shavers that is available today.
